    Releasing your brakes

When you "release your brakes", "pop your toggles", "pop your collar", or whatever what are you doing? You're releasing the brake _setting_ not necessarily the canopy form a braked position. Releasing your brake setting gives the pilot ability to control the canopy by use of the toggles, it doesn't mean you have to go into full flight. You can release your setting while staying in that exact braked position and choose to transition to full flight, half brakes, a braked turn, etc . Nonchalantly pulling your toggles just enough and letting the canopy surge into flight is a lazy habit that can get you hurt.

I would take it seriously; but it's serious and ridiculous at the same time. -sl

Yep. Is this something you've watched enough times to write a frustrated comment about?
