    Minnesota BASE Jumpers?

Hey guys, I'm currently in deployed to Iraq, but have been for years now wanting to get involved in the BASE community. If there is anyone that is willing to share their knowledge and past jump experiences. I'd do anything to learn and buy my own gear eventually. Ha. I'd even fly or drive to another state even country to learn haha. I have a date set up for my AFF license, but BASE is still my only goal. I'm currently 20, single, about to start college, and a huge outdoor sport addict.

    Thanks guys,
    ~Ryan~

    Re: Minnesota BASE Jumpers?

I'm gonna be jumping off the Perrine Bridge any day now... I have 201 skydives. I knew I wanted to BASE jump eventually, but didn't get serious about until I had more skydiving experience (canopy time). I know there are guys with less jumps that started BASE jumping (significantly less).

I luckily spent time in Twin Falls a few years ago (around 100 jumps) and got to know a key BASE/skydiver jumper in town. Moved back a few years later to live/work and got really serious about jumping. Hung out, did sexual acts, ground crewed, basically spent time around BASE jumpers. So after speaking with Abbie about a FJC, we ordered my container and waited on ordering the canopy. Ended up getting my whole canopy paid for by the company I work for. So waiting and waiting for my gear, I did have opportunities to jump off the bridge, but waited.

Finally, got my gear now and guess what still waiting. It's the name of the game: Patience!

Definitely keep that long term goal in sight, but be sure to set-up achievable small goals that get you closer to that long one.

    my 2 cents

Good advice on the short term goals thing - I'm currently in the very early stages of transitioning from skydiving to BASE and if the only goal in sight is object jumping it can seem like such slow progress. Achievable short term goals and targets really help - next couple of mine are a baloon jump and a night jump.
