Just out of curiosity, what by law did they pass in '53? Did it make jumping off the bridge illegal or did it specifically say BASE jumping?

I figured it was probably known on the UK boards, but when I posted I didn't have the time to peruse them...
I beg to differ; seems like the perfect place to take part in that sort of thing!The suspension bridge is not the correct sort of place to take part in that sort of thing...
There is no law as such prohibiting jumping in the UK, the 'Bylaw' they are refering to relates to 'Climbing on the bridge structure' and carries a £5 fine. Having said that, the Police can now serve you with an £80 fine on the spot for being a 'Public Nuisance' , if they catch you.....
