Question Army cargo pants verse motorcross pants verse ???

In the market fr some new pants for BASE. I m familiar with the Army cargo pants, but am wondering if there are better options? Especially if I plan to be able to wear body armor under the pants.

I am looking at motorcross pants online, as well as downhill pants/shorts.

Any options? Are these too hot, and/or not breathable enough?

BDU cargo pants they are nice for over the body armor because there baggy, good for hiking and climbing, moto pants you need to get one or two size bigger to wear body armor, they do have built in pad so they are like body armor in it self. I like cargo pants because for the free movement

You don't want motorcross pants for a number of reasons. Very few if any pockets. Generally tapered at the lower leg to fit inside MX boots, meaning that you have to drop pants to put on kneepads. Also most have expansion panel sewn in for rider flexibility. These panels don't hold up well on bare rock. I took a pair of Rockgarden MX pants to Moab and in one day they were toast.

What you want is Free-ride/Dual-sport pants. They're roomy, have plenty of outsiide pockets, very durable and usually convertible. Meaning the lower legs zip-off to create shorts.

I have a pair of both Answer and Thor pants and I don't think either pair was over $100.00. The fabric is a little stiff at first and takes some getting used to. Other than that they're great.

Old Navy cargo shorts are the way to go. plenty of room for knee pads and they only cost about 10-15 bucks.

Costco! - Lined cargo trousers, plenty of pockets, plenty of room for pads, and only about $10 so you dont mind ripping them on barbed wire.

    Nah ...forget the cheap option.
Ive gone through that many cheap trousers (pants) .....its just a false economy.
Try the mountain trekking pants made of the stretchy /rubberised material....found at most Outdoor Clothing Suppliers
Ive been using these the last couple of years. Cost me about $50 initially but one pair easily outlasts several pairs of the cheaper options.
Super light....They are water resistant and dry extremely quickly.
They usually have reinforced stitching/material and extra stretchy material around joints like knee /backside/crotch
The stretchy material makes them perfect for fitting armour underneath, and being easy to climb with.....and the material resists barbed wire better than anything else I've worn ( it kinda seals itself around the small holes)

Really.....Ive gone through two pairs in the last couple of years.......where I easily would have gone through many ,many more 'cheap' cargo pants for the same level of use ( alot of crawling, climbing around urban sites and mountain use)

I found a cheapish supplier in the UK....and bought another 3 pairs....just in case they stop making them
