would you bandit dayblaze a b in miami on tape in exchange for "exposure"

just a not-so hypothetical scenario, and was wondering the consensus...

so... you may or may not remember this..
    http://www.basejumper.com/...ost=2900317;#2900317

but i contacted the guy, we exchanged emails, and chat.

from the start im skeptical, ive dealt with more than a few "producers" on other projects... big timers, natgeo, history, fox blah blah balh... not some unheard of from miami...

theyre generally not as bad as the marketers, but thats irrelevant..

dude tries to relate his enthusiasm and "on the level" with "im a surfer so i understand adrenaline" bs.. says i was "selected" from a pool of applicants...

says hes got a building jump lined up, sends pictures looks decent.

heres the description from an email... In reply to:
In this RRP mini documentary, Miami Base, we will take a close look into the thrilling and controversial sport of base-jumping. Due to its high fatality rate, base- jumping has been reluctantly received and made illegal in many locations. Nevertheless, this high-stakes sport has rapidly increased in popularity over the years. There are more base jumpers now than ever before, and most are willing to travel great lengths to find the perfect jump.

Miami Base will document the journey of one or two jumpers making the jump over Miami. The film will cover every angle and thought that goes through a jumper’s head both before and after the jump. What is it like to put yourself on the edge? Just how far will you go for the sake of jumping? Obstacles will be scaled along the way including a sneak past security and setting up the jump. If everything goes according to plan, the jumper will land in a marked zone overlooking the bay where a truck will be waiting for pickup. Crowd reactions and mixed opinions will provide for a controversial subject matter. Furthermore, the installation of a helmet- cam and our access to building balconies will enable prime documentation of the event. We are looking for the natural drama and suspense that follows the risk involved with making every jump a success.

sounds interesting... anyway i call and talk to andrew, the organizer or whatever and ask a few questions...

    stupid questions like..

what is the exit point like?
    whos your technical director?
    weather days?
    how much does it pay?
    permission from owner?
    budget for project?

    you know... silly stuff.

    he answered..

    exit point? "the roof."

tech director? (i dont remember dudes name..) so and so from miami, he's never basejumped before, but he has a lot of skydives and knows alot about basejumping. he posts on the board you probably know him"

weather days? "we hadnt thought of that"

how much does it pay? "we will pay for your plane ticket and hotel"

permission from owner? "no. were going to make it a quick in and out"

so let me get this stratight. you want me to make an illegal jump, in the daytime, with no permission, on camera, with backstory and names and " every angle and thought that goes through a jumper’s head both before and after the jump."

and I get to do it all for a plane ticket to miami?

    where do i sign up.

i pressed him on the payment issue.. before i learned there was no permission..

he told me the budget was already approved and accounted for.... by get this... playboy.

so not only do i do it for free but youve already sold it to playboy? so you profit, i get to risk my life and legal standing.

    where do i sign up?

dude told me take it or leave it "theres plenty of guys willing to do it for a trip to miami"

    hey buddy. FUCK YOU.

there are two other jumpers involved, i tried to convey that this is a bad idea, and we deserve payment as well.. they werent too keen.

one siad "im cheap, and im trying to get sponsored so anywhere my name is is good for me"

the other i think just has stars in his eyes... oh yeah he's also never jumped a building.

they can identify themselves if they wish. they both post here.

i dont think ill be making any jumps with with either anytime soon.

moral to this long ass post?

when it comes to base on tape, MORE LIKE BARLIA, LESS LIKE BAUMGARTNER.

that is all. have a nice day.

    ps. runningroots.com - fuck you.

Like I said on that other place,

Send Stoopid Dave his way! That douche bag will probably pay for his own ticket to Miami just to be on film and be "infamous".
