Question Looking for short film I saw in early '90s

Somewhere in or around 1992, I saw a short film about a Base Jumper who jumps off the WTC. I believe it was a Columbia or NYU student film. I think it was called "Free Fall" or "Free Falling"... I can't remember.

I've been looking for this film for years now. I haven't been able to locate the film, the filmmaker, or the jumper. It was one of the most exciting short documentaries I've ever seen, I'd love to see it again.

If my memory serves me.... the jumper was from Long Island... and worked in a mall. I think in a Photo place...

Does anyone have any info about this film? Please any help at all would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

Never mind. (a la Rosannadanna... for those of you old enough to remember.)
I found the film & the filmmaker.

    Thanks anyway.

So, what is the exact name, who was the filmmaker, who was the jumper?

I would take it seriously; but it's serious and ridiculous at the same time. -sl

The film is a 32 min short called "Free Fallin"

The filmmaker, Ruggero Gabbai, went to Columbia and is currently working in Milan. His production company is called Forma International.

I think... I repeat, I think the Jumper was John Vincent. But I do not know that for sure. That's my guess based on the dates I have gathered reading these forums.

There's a trailer on the Forma International website:

Was there no chest strap on his harness or was it routed inside his shirt? I'm guessing the duct tape was to ensure the reserve container stays closed?

It was routed inside his shirt. He had no reserve. That is a BASE rig. The duct tape was to thin the top profile of the rig to hide it better.

Ah. I remember seeing that jump on MTV back when I was a teenager. That guy was on quite a few MTV shows back in the '90's. Thanks for clearing that up. Was this a velcro rig? Would duct tape around your container not restrict the opening?
