Question Any speed increase for the Base Board?

I have been tuning the server and trying to get the loading time faster. Anyone notice a difference?

I would say yes, but having also upgraded my laptop I am not sure if its that that has also added to my speed.

Not much help that hey! hehe

Even with the snail speed of dial-up, I have noticed that pages seem to load faster, and logging in takes less time.

Thanks for the continued efforts with the Board.

Well, I have looked at the HTML, and there is very little to modify, unless I just remove EVERY image in the entire page. But I have been trying to remove images and extra HTML code if I can.

The next thing i just did was to try to optimize my Apache settings, and thus I notice a slight increase in speed myself. So I was hoping someone else would notice it as well.
The next stage is to upgrade my Apache and my DataBase, but this is much more difficult, but it is on the list of things to do.

Excellent! That is what I was hoping for.

So once I actually upgrade the Database, we should get another huge speed increase!
Hopefully I can steal back the postings from DZ.com soon now!

had some problems today connecting, although I was still getting notifications of postings by email. I pinged "www.blincmagazine.com" and was getting fails, but others were able to connect that I spoke to.

All good now, and after a couple of days on my new laptop would say that BLiNC is faster without the fact of a new piece of kit............

thanks for ongoing work, effort, and cash payout............... dont worry we do love you!

PS) hey manbird, i sent you an email, I only just got back online again - sorry about that - will drop you a mail soon............... look forward to the future and the prospect of being close to the scene out there.............. thanks for your help........

    Hi Mick --

BLiNC is much faster! I can notice a big difference.

Hey, I'm going to El Gigante March 1 - 11. Nothing but cool folks on the load and there's a slot or two still open. Wanna go?

Re: Any speed increase for the Base Board?

I think there is a noticeable improvement as well, though the network on my end is really variable too, at times. Thanks!! It is noticeable on every page except the main one, which still doesn't seem to load properly for me... it could be the firewall over here, but I also noticed it back home (two very different places & computers). Specifically, IE is not displaying the icons, just a white background. though the icons are there to click on if you knew where to click for them. Mozilla behaved similarly. strange though, that it only happens on the home page... does this occur for anyone else?

Re: Any speed increase for the Base Board? HOW ABOUT NOW?

I just upgraded my PHP and Apache Versions.
I have not upgraded my database, and am certain there will be a huge lift once that is done, but I would love to know how many people are getting some better results from this new upgrade?
