    boots

I know the general feeling is that hanwags are the best buy - but I have heard from "experienced" jumpers that these are not technically the best................ what boots are people jumping in?

    Re: boots

I love my trusty clompta-clompers, as my brother calls them. I almost always sport my government issue Jungle Boots (which I had resoled w/ Vibram Sierra soles) or the new issue desert boots. They both offer pretty good ankle support and traction (both have Vibram soles) and don't have the goofy hooks everybody hates. They do have speed lacing (without hooks) and are pretty tough. The desert boots have the advantage of not requiring polish to keep the leather healthy like the jungles do. The only disadvantage I've found with these boots is that they're a little (but not much) less nimble than low or 3/4 top hiking boots. The jungle boots are also real nice in hot weather 'cuz they have cordura uppers and drain holes. Anyway, I kind of went off because I love my good old clompta-clompters, even though my brother despises watching me tighten the laces up when we're gearing up.

I also like the military style boots.. specifically the Belleville goretex. the hanwags never seemed to fit properly, and seemed awfully clunky. the Bellevilles come in a lot of sizes, have no hooks, breath well, high support, good for dashing through streams or mud or what have you. and I got a couple for free only thing I'd ask for improvement, is a little more lateral ankle support.

Yup. My desert boots are Bellville GoreTex jobs. Nice all around boots.

I like the Meindl Air Revolution - Strong, GoreTex and super comfy with a good ankle protection!

If not, I wear my Nike Air Zoom Talac - light, waterproof, GoreTex and comfy!
