    Floating Exit

    >>Witnessed one of these for the first time on my buddy's 10th jump from a 480ft A pretty impressive. It ostensibly seems like a solution for jumping in high winds...he got good pressurization and a nice kick on opening away from the tower, and didn't even need to make any turns to land just held his heading for a nice stand-up landing. And if you have a 180 well...then you're just faced with a down-wind landing instead of an object strike. And apparently, the sight of all that steel screaming by in front of your face is just sick! Anyone else out there doing these?

I've done floater exits but only from Spans. Its sweet watching the steel go by also. I've talked about doing it from an A. But that seems really scary to me. Maybe I'll work up to it someday.

yep and me too! - i would be interested in peoples experiences of these, i have heard people do them............... and i bet its great visuals - but perhaps someone would like to post a detailed view on doing these..................

seems like quite a hardcore jump.................... especially for jump# 10................

    >>I'm reminded of a post Yuri made to the effect that your level of fear (or lack of it) may not have to do with the actual level of risk on the jump...personally, winds were at 20-25 gusting at 25+, so I pulled off. But he decided to go, so after some discussion we decided doing a floater would be safest as last time we went in high winds our canopies were fluttery/jellyfishing on opening (we think the tail-wind was inhibiting pressurization). Thoughts?

    Question Re: Floating Exit

Would i be right in thinking that this is like a paragliding take-off ?
and if so, would that be slider or no slider ?

It's when you leave facing the object.

Big fun. And pretty safe there.

Now, have you considered doing a side floater form the other arm in nil winds? I'd pay money to see that video. Hmmm. Maybe I'll just go try it...

Or it could be done in winds directly from the west.

    Re: Floating Exit

We seem to have lost a few posts here...

i have been keeping the replys, but only to two subscribed threads, including Mac's thread and in particular this one, with an amusing post by ZegeunerLeben for example.

After another floater expidition to this particular object last night, the presence of several
cows was noted in the landing area, as well as evenly spaced buckets filled with water. After
questioning a few locals it was found that a landowner (unknown) has purchased the land surrounding
the object, and put the fence up to keep the cows in, not BASEr's out. Please please don't anyone
land on a cow, lest you immediatly qualify for a Cen-Cal Cow-Strike number (A cow-strike is like and
    object strike, except cowier)
    LMAO.

By the way If you want them Mick i'll e-mail em as a cut+paste.

there is an annoucement at the top of the board listing that says there was a database error that caused some loss of posts during a particular time. Mick has since sorted this.

I am not that bothered about my post being reposted - but maybe the missing posts to this thread could be re-posted............ email them to me and I will re-post them.......... (if they hold worthwhile information)

    Cheers

    A little cowier.. that's good.

They need to finish the fence if it's used to keep cow in Maybe it's finished now. I'll be back out in a week or so.

Have pondered the floating exit from our large 650ft power tower (pylon) many times when the winds have been up. So far haven't had the balls to do it. Ironically the only person i know who has done it also didn't have the balls to. You guessed it, that wingsuiting UK base babe strikes again.
From what she tells me, it went sweet and there were no problems. Respect to W once again for showing us guys what girls we really are.

    Re: Floating Exit

Floaters are pretty much standard operating procedure at that 480' A in high winds. Summer is "floater season". Also: would whoever the arogant yahoos are that feel the need to blaze this thing in the middle of the afternoon please refrain from doing so and have a little consideration for other local jumpers who really dig that object. Just a respect thing dudes.
