    Super Mushroom technique

    Hello there!
I just read in a previous thread that somebody (for example, Johnny Utah, Jolly Jumper, etc.) uses the "Super Mushroom" technique for folding the PC (when going stowed), regardless if the PC has got a handle or not.
Personally, I "normal mushroom" pack my PC when going stowed, but, from the brief description given about the "super mushroom" technique, I am not able to figure out how the "super mushroom" folding takes place.
Could anybody please post on the board a series of simple drawings or a long (sorry!) explanation done step by step (if you know it, in a couple of words you are able to understand, but if you do not know anything about it, it is jolly hard to catch it!!)?
For example, once you have the mushroom (with the bridle bundle underneath sticked into the top of the mesh (inside)/cloth (outside)) in a semicircle laying on the ground (with only cloth visible), how do you transform this semicircle into a cylinder to be stowed into the spandex BOC? Folding it into thirds? Or what? And the shaft part of the mushroom, being only mesh (and laying under the cloth), how is treated? "S" folded once? Where is the connection bridle/mesh brought and how is it treated? Things like that.
    Thanks.
    Stay safe out there :7

    Me Too!

I am also interested in finding out about the "super mushroom" PC pack job.

Anybody got any info on it?

I'll keep asking around, and post if I learn anything.

    YD's Super Mushroom technique

Yaqui Don's Super Mushroom BASE Recipe

    1. Get 3 grams Super Mushrooms.

    2. Decide on jump site, plan jump.

    3. Select gear and packing technique for the site.

    4. Assemble and pack gear until ready-to-jump.

    5. Get up early, eat Super Mushrooms for breakfast.

    6. Immediately gear up until ready-to-jump.

    7. Go to jump site and wait until breakfast is at least one hour past.

    7. Flick according to plan.

NOTICIA: Yaqui Don strongly suggests that before trying his BASE Recipe, practitioners should first experience Yaqui Don's Super Mushroom Sitting Up Without Tipping Over Recipe, Yaqui Don's Super Mushroom Walking In A Straight Line Recipe. Yaqui Don's Super Mushroom Riding a Bicycle Recipe (with and without traffic), and, of course, Yaqui Don's Skydiving From An Airplane Recipe.

    Yeah.
    Yeah yeah yeah.
Yes indeed, Yaqui Don, that's just what we needed.
I appreciate so much. We shall follow word by word your precious advice.
In the meanwhile, I would better appreciate if anyone comes along and tell us the SuperMushroom pack job for PC's.
    Thanks

    RE: Super Mushroom technique

To understand the Super Mushroom, you first need to understand how the Super Mushroom came to be. I thought of it as a way to get my pc opening quicker the moment it leaves my hand. With the REGULAR mushroom, the mesh is stretched out, squeezed together, and then S folded. This usually works great, especially if you have at least 400 feet, so if you don't understand my explination below, stick with what you know and/or feel confident about. When the regular mushroom leaves your hand, the mesh can stay waded up until you get bridle extention and enough air molecules flowing into the collapsed mesh to get it to start to expand. This can happen very quick, or sometimes you get a hesitation. When the Super Mushroom leaves your hand the pc begins to fall open (expand open) immediately which makes for a larger opening to start catching more of those first molecules of air.
The Super Mushroom has been very reliable, where-as I have had hesitations with the regular mushroom. OK, here is the Super Mushroom pack job. It's going to be hard to picture or understand via words alone so really the best thing is to find me BASE jumping somewhere and have me show it to you. Lay the pc flat on the ground, Rip-Stop facing down and mesh facing up. Bring the outer circumferance seam (the seam that holds the mesh to the Rip-Stop) into the center. That's the tricky part. Do it in quarters and then bring the rest into the center. When you get this step done, the Rip-Stop will puff out from the cap half way, then fold and go back in to the center where the circumferance seam is gathered. Likewise, the mesh will puff out from the gathered seam halfway, then fold over and go back into the center where the bridle atteaches. That describes the layers but the whole thing is still laying flat, mesh up. Now s-fold the bridle. Each s-fold should be the radius of the new smaller circle of mesh. That same radius is how long the finished cylinder will be, and yes it is kind of short. (That's why I use an elongated version of the regular mushroom for longer delays...so it will seat deeper in the BOC pouch). Once the bridle is done, create a "nug" under the cap. To do this, reach under and grab the cap and use the end of the bridle stack along with the gathered seam in the center to create a mass of material that can be grabed through the cap. This creates a "nug" to grab for deployment. It's important to include a small portion of the bridle stack in the "nug". This ensures that the bridle will be extracted from the BOC on deployment. Once the "nug" is in hand, pull the Rip-Stop into a cylinder shape. Holding the cylinder, insert it into the BOC pouch. Ideally there should be a fat, tight, dense "nug" to grab. This pc pack job does take a few minutes and a flat surface. This is why I only use it if I'm going stowed. I recommend only using pilot chutes WITHOUT a handle for the Super Mushroom. I only use handles for smaller pcs intended for longer delays in which case I don't use the Super Mushroom anyway. I hope this helps you out.

    RE: Super Mushroom technique

Thanks so much, Johnny!!! Thanks so much indeed!!!
I understand now that the Super Mushroom technique is only for "without handle" PC's.
I am not yet going stowed (!!!) with "without handle" PC's, but this evening I shall give a try with the Super Mushroom PC pack job in my living room on my 46" ZP PC! I opened (together with my mates) a new site with it last Saturday!!! :7

Well, I would appreciate so much jumping with you, Johnny, but I am afraid I live in Italy. Anyway, if you are ever coming to Italy, drop me an e-mail some time in advance that we can hook up and share a little bit of happyness together!!! :7 :7 :7
