    Terminal Jumps

Was wondering if anybody has seen or heard of any problems with velcro rigs on terminal jumps. Nothing fancy, just jump and track away. I know people make terminal jumps with them all the time but are they as safe as a pin rig. My understanding is that as long as your velcro is good and you don't do any aerials at higher speeds you should be alright.

    Thanks

    Hey Dave O
I have been jumping a 1800ft tower recently and have been practicing alot of tracking. From what I've found velcro rigs work fine. I've also been doing multiple arials with 10-12 second delays. I jump a new odyssey and love it, if you have any questions about sliders or pilot chutes for terminal jumps let me know.

I personally believe the whole "velcro rig at terminal" thing is completely safe if you have your rig set up properly. That means good velcro, a properly fitting harness, and some common sense.
The funny thing is that I bet there hasn't ever been more than a few velcro shrivel flap incidents at terminal....actually, in my discussions with BR and CR a few years ago there was only one known incident.:7

    RE: Terminal Jumps

    Yo !

Unless you are flying a wingsuit, velcro rigs are safe at terminal. One thing to watch out for on either pin or velcro rigs is a pilot chute pouch. I have seen 2 terminal tracks where a pilot chute has escaped from the pouch and deployed a canopy prematurely. Both have happened on the old Reactor containers, but many new rigs still have a pouch that is way too loose for a small PC used at terminal. This can be easily fixed in the field with a needle and thread, though ;-)

    bsbd!
