    Twist and toggle

Yesterday after a 10s slider up delay, I had a 1.5 induced twist and a 90° right offheading. As there was a cliff on the right, I corrected the offheading first (with the risers) and then untwisted the lines. All gone well but the problem was that during the offheading correction by pulling the left riser, due to the friction of the twisted risers, one toggle's velcro has been unmate. I was wondering what would happen if the toggle was completely released?!?! Does anyone had a similar experience and is there any solution to this problem (procedure or rigging)?

    Have safe twist!

    RE: Twist and toggle

Not that I would know much about a delay of that duration, but if I'm not mistaken previous comments on this board about anothers jumpers perfect reaction to a similar situation involved climbing above the twists to undo the twists using the full set of lines. Sounds tricky to me but it is the correct action.

Anyone have comments on this one?

Good to see you didn't get to check out our BSSW prayer ;-)

I'll mail you later as promised last week.

    RE: Twist and toggle

The severity of the problem would have depended on whether you had rigged the toggles properly to begin with. Had they not been routed through the steering line keepers and a toggle blew it might have taken the slider back up the lines, collapsing the canopy and compounding your difficulty. If it had released (but was routed properly) and sent you rapidly turning towards the face your reaction would have been critical.

What, type of gear were you using,as it may help me understand a simmular event.andy.

    RE: Twist and toggle

The gear used was a Prism with a FOX265. The toggles were properly routed (through the keeper rings).
The problem is that I did a riser input while the risers were still twisted (not actually a problem because it saved my life!). So the friction between the risers unmated one toggle's velcro.
    Thanks.
