Too much trouble to take the slider off or put it on but I have had them on a reserve in my Thomas Sports Equipment "Chaser" for better than 15 years.
I wouldnŽt see a problem with using them for no slider jumps, installed correctly with correct material and proper fastening systems they can be stronger than the riser end it is attatched to. They are definitely much higher maintenance than hard links. YouŽd have to replace them every so many jumps. How many? Guess youŽd have to be really critical for BASE and check them out very often, hope you know what to look for.....It helps to know that with the type of weave of modern lines. that general surface abrasions even though seemingly small can knock 25% strength off.
Slider up would suck IMHO unless you had slider blocks to prevent the slider from obscuring your veiw by dropping down past the softies and wrapping your face.... other than that, I donŽt see a prob....
