    Mauvoisin Dam - Heads up

Something I noticed at Mauvoisin Dam. I jumped the previous Thursday evening and used a wind indicator (4 foot plastic strip atop a 9-10 foot pole) that someone else had put up in the landing area to get an idea of ground wind direction. 24 hours later somebody had climbed onto a stack of pallets and cut the plastic strip down to a few inches leaving the pole and the impression of nil winds. Use a drifter!!

Anyone who uses a ground mounted wind indicator on a dam must be a few drips short of a pi$$.

    Thanks for sharing though.

    RE: Mauvoisin

The wind is a serpentine wind bouncing off the valleys sides normally 45deg off the valleyline at the max,windsocks/indicators have a valid use there.
    take care,

Fine if you're real familiar with the local conditions. My badly made point was that a ground indicator would probably not reflect the most significant characteristic.

Point taken and thanks for the info, Space.
