    Another death in Lauterbrunnen

This morning, a German base jumper died at Staubbach (Waterfall).

Gil, representing the Swiss Base Association, posted a similar message on the French Base Association web site:

After this second death in the valley within a week, we kindly ask all base jumpers to stop jumping in Lauterbrunnen for a while until things - especially with the Swiss media - calm down a bit. We will inform you when it will be wise to start jumping again.

Thanks for helping us keeping base jumping legal in Switzerland.

... about jumping in the valley :

"after the two tragic accidents in August 2002, we kindly ask all the BASE-jumpers worldwide NOT TO JUMP in the BERNER OBERLAND (area Interlaken & Meiringen), untill things are settle down !!!
We need to give the locals some rest, or we risk to shut down the whole area forever... Thank you for your help."

Another tragic incident in Lauterbrunnen - sad to hear of this news...

If there is anyone who was planning to go to Lauterbrunnen during the remainder of the season, it would be wise to change your plans, your plane ticket and your mind. Come on over here to Norway!!!

We have been having unusually good weather this year - only a few days in the last 10 weeks that were not jumpable. People coming over here are averaging 10+ jumps for a week stay...

Come on over to Kjerag Norway and let the scene in Lauterbrunnen cool down...

    cya at the exit point...

Thanks Mark, however, I can't read Swiss German.
Could you please offer a translation.
There was lots of coverage and comment regarding Nik's death,
does this poor German soul not deserve the same?
    Who is this German jumper?

    RE: Another death in Lauterbrunnen

this jumper, whose name is of little interest, has been one off my best friends
till now I didn't find out what happend
like most base-jumpers he´s allways been aware off the dangers off basejumping
I can't tell what this loss means for many people
    fukc skydiving
what really counts is your attitude to life
    his was sublime
    I'm feeling so damned sad
let us all keep in mind, that we haven't just lost another skydiver or basejumper or what the fukc
we've lost one off the most openminded persons I god to know
from the point of view of a skydiver I´ve listened to a lot off fatality-reports
but now it seams so unbelievable and unbearable that itcan happen to a good friend
my feelings and thoughts stay with his parents and girlfriend

I, too, hope to learn more about this unhappy incident. Both to understand the technical factors, but more importantly to keep this fellow BASE brother in my heart and soul now that he is no longer with us.

    Peace,
