There have been at least three experienced leaders in our sport that have had problems with Dann Lee.
1) Robin Heid
2) Mark Hewitt (http://www.blincmagazine.com/forum/d...ng_type=search)
3) Avery Badenhop
I'd trust their judgment on this issue.

The same thread has some comments from Lukas Knutson about problems he had with Dann.
Does anyone know how Slim is getting along with the Lees? I trust Slim, and as far as I know he is still on-board for the event this year.
Does anyone know why the Lees have pushed Norizon and Aziz out? I'd definitely follow their lead if they wanted to have a jumpers event in Malaysia without the extra hoopla.

Hello,
this will be one of my first public posts on this board. I usually do not like to discuss things concerning base in public forums feeling these things are better to talk about face to face but in this case have been compelled to say something. I have been in Malaysia for two of the Lee’s events. One when Robin and Dennis helped the Lee’s organize and one last year when Slim helped them put it together. Both events were wonderful and I really liked all the people I came in contact with during those events.
The Lee’s are wonderful human beings and I am happy they are interested in our little sport. They are the first group that I have seen that have gotten involved with base that seem genuinely interested in making a real competition. No longer just asking people to give them money to jump off objects we can jump for free. But actually opening up real buildings and then giving large amounts of prize money to the people that win. Not just a few lame plastic trophies and a fake title of worlds best base jumper.
These events are good for our sport. The more of them we have the better. People need to see what we do and need to understand that we are athletes that train hard to do what we do. Just like in football, basketball, and formula 1. We blind technology and skill to fly and it’s a beautiful and inspiring thing to watch.
Slim has more knowledge on base then pretty much anyone I know. He is an awesome person and some one I trust. He has over 1,200 base jumps and has done jumps that would make the average base jumper puke with fear. I can think of no other person on this planet I would rather have helping the Lee’s make these competitions happen then him. He also understands the dangers of our sport and will not let people do things unsafe because he knows the consequences better then most.
You can choose to take part in these event’s or not, that is up to you. But please do not try and sabotage people doing good things for our sport. Thank you and I hope you all have a very nice New Years, I know I will…

I don't know that many athletes that stay out all night boozing, can't climb to the top of an Antenna without throwing up, take drugs, don't like to wake before 11am, diet mainly on #### food and generally avoid exercise. Comparing Base jumping to F1 is a little bit far fetched, I’m sure there are athletes in our sport but to say base is for athletes......erm right.
George
George,
Are you some sort of pussy? You mean you can't stay out partying all night and still get up at 4:00 AM to make a 2 hour strenuous hike? You can't climb an antenna without puking? You don't exercise at all? All YOU eat is jumk food? You sound like a real sack of sh1t, and I wouldn't want you to try to hang with real base jumpers. Stick to the DZ, tofu, and a pair of tights.
Tree :P

Um, do you know Jeb? He pretty much fits your "athlete" profile.
He trains regularly for BASE.
He doesn't do drugs.
He doesn't drink.
I've been with him several times when he refused to eat rather than stomach the junk food I was throwing down. I'm pretty sure he survives mainly on sushi and tofu.
>...I’m sure there are athletes in our sport...
And the guy you were responding to is a prime example.

I agree with Jeb.
Guys, Every year we have similar posts as this one above. Were is the problem?!
If some of us doesn't like the way how K.L. BASE event is organized and lead in last two years have full freedom to stay at home.
For some of Americans I like to say that they maybe feel as leader in the BASE sport ( OK this can be true :) ) but this has nothing with suggesting how to deal with certain things - especially when nobody asking.
I was in KL two times and I can say that the event was nicely organized. Organizers were always people who know about BASE and organizing. Anne, Dwain, Mark, Slim, and judges. Without them and Dann Lee KL event would not be so nice as was the last year ( 2002.-2003.) Slim will run and will repeat the good job!! Nobody expect less from him. He is an extraordinary man with load of knowledge in BASE and ORGANIZING. I have no doubt that he will pick up a good team this year and will run event smoothly again.
We all live in free world and minimum we all expect from each other is respect.
So please respect people around you. For sure down there is not everything ideal around politics and organizing. Well, were is everything perfect?! I am sure that Malaysian BASE jumpers have problems but they must deal with this. I respect them all for their open hart and warm welcome which we witnesing every time we go there. I don't think that hiring ''US experts'' will help them much, especially in the way like some of the individuals constantly trying to solve the problem...
I suggest to those jumper who think that can change situation regarding KL and change the opinion of the people who are going again down this December or were there two or three times already( and had a good time ) to build one high building in the desert and start organizing.Of course they will have full freedom to create perfect politics too. I am sure there will be no problems at all. I am sure that after few months will be another building next to the first one. Reason: politics - of course!!
Regards
Robi

I guess I'm basing my assumptions on the British Base jumpers I've met. One guy won't even jump anything higher than 300ft cause he can't be bothered to climb higher. (Mac)…..

Oh so so harsh!! hehe! - Yes you were witness to my first A climb where I almost vomitted at 500ft - but after refusing to climb anything above 300ft I have gained some fitness and now go higher!!- still phuking hate climbing above 300ft on vertical ladders though!! - and its a nightmare climbing with TomC behind you snapping at your heels - that guy is way toooooooo fit and strong! sodding tree surgeons!
George me old mucker! we must hook up soooooon!! - beer and / or a flick!
oh and I certainly agree - there maybe a handful of prime atheletes in this sport - but most jumpers i meet aint what you call an "athelete"!! :9 :o
i´ll agree whith George here, but also abit whit Mac, he do climb higher than 300ft,but only 315ft as its his local:P
im really fit,i just usaly climb slow as i climb whith others so thay can feel beeter about their climbing skills, what a nice guy iám:+ :P

The british jumpers I jumped with in London were incredibly fit. They could lift pints with incredible ease, and even climbed up and turned off security fencing so I could take the easy way up. Pip pip and cheerio to UK's hard jumpers. ;-)
Pip pip & cheerio?
Who the fu(k were you jumping with? Hugh Grant?
High time we got together to fall off something, my good man.
I'll bring stilts so we can converse at eye level.
