    Tracking Attire

    Allrighty folks,

Lets chat about something educational and not personally controversial.

Short of a wingsuit, what do you consider to be the best clothes for maximum flat tracking?

A free fly suit? A tight wet suit?

Baggy clothes? What about fabric type? Something slick and smooth or coarse like velvet?

My track has been compared to that of a Maytag refigerator. I'd like to upgrade to perhaps a toaster oven.

So if any of you fast trackers out there have any ideas about what the best threads for tracking are. Please elaborate.

Cheers and have a good Independence day everyone!

dude I don't think there IZ a subject that BASE jumpers can discuss that won't devolve into something that's personally controversial or intellectually challenged.

    Tracking Pants

Try Birdman tracking pants. They're still extremely rare (I don't think they've released yet, but I'll order a pair as soon as they do).

They're really cool, though. They look and wear like pants, but track well above anything else I've seen short of a wingsuit. They've got a vent system that actually channels air out your ankles, like some kind of jet nozzle system.

I think they're going to be the hot ticket for BASE where a wingsuit isn't quite right (like National Parks where you may have to jump and run).

    RE: Tracking Pants

In Norway most of us use mountain clothing like Trollveggen bibs, and Off Track PacLite jacket
from Norrøna. Just follow the link and you will get an idea. This is comon clothing for use in Norway, and you shouldnt leave home with out it. Everyone who have been to Norway know how fast the weather can change. Anyway it was tracking the quistion was about, and yes it works very well for most of us.

    RE: Tracking Attire

    Dude,

Technique stands for about 80% at least. It just seems that most people (Americans) who are built like ..refrigerators ? ... never try that hard.

Go jump an aeroplane with a Pro Track. Get really stiff, imagine yourself as a plywood board. Point your toes, cup your shoulders, bend at the hips á la skijumper style and just friggin' grunt it for about 30 secs. If that doesn't work, lose some weight and try again.

Then worry about what you wear :-) The latest generation Norgey big wall jumpers are insanely good trackers in just Goretex mountain clothes.

    /Lukas

PS Was not impressed with Birdman Tracking pants but I jumped an early version that fit R.Pecnik but not me. Was impressed with my track after losing 10lbs and going for it with my tandem master jumpsuit.
