    RE: Slim

    Gidday Steve, Bernard and friends

I am doing quite well thanks guys. It is a long road to recovery I am on but for what I have been through I am really very well.

My injuries amounted to two broken legs, a badly fractued pelvis that had been rebuilt, spinal damage -specifically L4 and a fracture in my shoulder.

After 4 months in hospital where I learned every basic function again - putting on shoes, walking, toileting. I then went home for another two months. In this time I travelled to the US for a brief visit to see a couple of friends and had hoped to flop one off at BD with my walking sticks. This was not to be and I returned home. Some say for the best.

In November I started work again with the forest service who have been really supportive through the whole event. I was on full salary (sick pay for six months) so I have paid off all the Visa sponsored BASE trips from the previous year.

Once I started work I also started to ride my bicycle to and from work. I couldn't walk properly but I could ride. I just strapped my sticks to the bike and hoped I didn't need to stop. In this time I have continued to improve gradually. I now walk with no assistance, I am dancing again, and even went in a traithlon (I came last though).

MOre recetly I got carried away with several of the other Ozzie jumpers and made my debut jump several weeks ago. I have now made three (I think I'll start my jump numbers again as I am on my second life.) I can only do the one object as it has a sandy landing area and disabled access (-. But it feels great to be doing it. I intend to get stuck into the ABA Accuray WE in three weeks.

I have had so much encouragement and support from so many great people in this sport. I am hopeful to jump with them all again in the future. I won't be going as hard as I used to (that's hard to beat) but even a medium pace will keep me busy.

Thanks for your thoughts - I may walk funny but everything is in working order.

    Luv SLIM

    Slim,
I am very, very happy that you are back on your feet and you started back jumping. It means you are OK. :7
I have been really missing to read on the BASE Board the stories of your urban jumps!!!
    Take care, my friend. :7
When (I say "when" and not "if") you will be coming in the old continent, drop me an e-mail well in advance so that we can arrange a very nice "not hard" jump :D :D :D
    Stay safe out there

    RE: Slim

Hello, I've been away from the BASEboard for awhile. What happened? Slim is such an experienced and skilled jumper, I was surprised to hear he'd had an accident.

Slim, could you post some details about it? BTW, love your work!

I apologize in advance if someone already has posted info about this.

Stay safe out there. heh heh..... ---Dex
