(un)fortunately(?!), life goes on and flummi moves on to a new job in good old germany. after almost 3 years in the US with Siemens SPLS, I will be assuming a new position in sales with Siemens ICM in munich. official start date is april 1, 2001. (no joke).
my three years in the US were - and still are - a great experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat and can only recommend it to anyone. I have learned a lot, both professionally and privately.
regarding BASE, there are some people i want to thank for their inspiration and support on my way:
-chance and punkfish and their video off a northern california non-coastal bridge for making me want to BASEjump in the first place. (check out the video at www.opticaledge.com)
-raff for taking me to my first groundcrew
-and most of all, Matt (Kiwi) for his patience with me, all my questions, teaching me how to pack, a full-moon-two-way on my birthday (off the abovementioned bridge) and simply being a great jumping buddy! i look forward to doing some legal stuff back in europe with you this summer for a change! ;)
-gardner for welcoming me to atlanta and him, ogg and jim of the atlanta crew for some sweet jumps in GA - i look forward to our 4-way at bridge day!!!
-CR for making reliable gear and adam and nancy for answering all my questions
-punkfish for being my first "student" (you did good!)
-and a lot of other people who have given me advice and tons of fun.
i have had the greatest time ever here in the US, started skydiving and basejumping and met some of the most interesting, incredible people i have ever seen (jumpers and not). overall, I will leave on a high note because things have been going great and still are going great and my new job is a challenge I look forward to, but with tears in my eyes for I have to leave the US which have provided a great home for me; It was fun while it lasted.
my email is cwengel@yahoo.com. i hope we stay in touch and i will see you at some exit point at some ridiculous hour :D
3 2 1 und tschuess,
flummi
