The whole of Europe is just about covered now so that you can use mobile phones from anywhere. So with my new "hands free mobile telephone microphone" we have started phoning up our buddies at exit points and giving them live BASE jumps. Getting one of these phone calls is a real rush. Hearing the nervousness of your friend as he approaches a 1000 foot cliff exit point in Switzerland while I sit at my computer during a rainy day at work. Then hearing the rush of freefall wind. Velcro ripping. PIlot chutes inflating. One can even hear the pins popping on a Perigee Pro. Then getting live talk throughs down to landing. It doesn't replace the real thing but its a good gift to somebody that couldn't join a trip to an object. We are going to try to stream these out live over the internet using a Real Audio Server. More on that later.
Watch out we might be calling some folks stateside in the middle of the night soon :-)
