    Protocol When Out Of Town

OK, admittedly I should have probably done a heads-up here before going out of town, but I'm still sorta leery about even mentioning states on the boards.

In any event, here I am in a different locale and there is a very popular object almost literally in my back yard. I've scouted the place out twice and I know pretty much the ins & outs of the place... both from my own observations and talking with a person familiar with the object.

Conditions are perfect and I would love to jump this thing, but I don't want to just show up unannounced and spook any of the locals who might also be there.

So my question is, when you're out of town and you see an object that's jumpable, and you can't for whatever reason make contact with any locals, what's the best way to handle it? I know this will sort of vary based on the locale, but I would like to hear how others have handled this situation.

    TIA

If you haven't given proper notice, sometimes you just have to go for it.

Example; You unexpectedly show up in Toronto, and you did not have time to contact a local, so if you want to do the CNN Tower, you're on your own, go for it.
But say you knew you were going to Seattle a month or so before you go, you could post a contact for Seattle jumpers well in advance. That way any pigs scanning the Board will not know when to be on the lookout.
It cracks me up when I see a post like this:
"Hey, I'm going to be in Des Moines this Saturday July 18th, can anyone help me with some 'B' there? Email me, dumbass@dropadime.PIG

There's something to be said for networking. It helps to know a lot of jumpers in a lot of places, and to be on good terms with them. Not burning their sites is a good way to maintain friendly BASE relations.

If you are in California, email me kjct8@aol.com
I also know a lot of jumpers in a lot of states.
