    NE basejumpers

Looking to contact some basejumpers, regionally near nebraska, to get to know. I'm wanting to get into base this spring and could use some inside help.

    What's your experience level?
I would highly recommend (no matter how many skydives you have) to go see Jimmy and Marta in Moab or one of the other first jump courses around.

Maybe go to the Turkey boogie in Moab to meet some people who could help.

    RE: NE basejumpers

The one nebraska dude is, shall we say, reclusive to say the least. 3 years of driving thru nebraska provided me with his info, and phone number, and the 3 ex-base jumpers who are still in the area. I still only have fewmets from tell-tale evidence on certain sites and he declines greater contact. If you move into the sport you will have the state to yourself minus the out of staters who occasionally, rumor has it, conduct raids over the border. It is good advice to seek one of the base courses (like consolidated rigging's or others) as this state seems to specialize in freaky weather/winds.

    RE: NE basejumpers

motherhucker, I've got nearly 500 jumps.

I'd like to go to a fjc, and probably will. although don't know where/when/with who. just for piece of mind when training. It'd be nice to hook up with someone at least in the tri state area because I am so isolated, though. that alone might not make this worth it.

denpar, since there are only two dz's in the state, both 30 min. apart I assume I know just about everyone. Not sure who is an ex base jumper. some say they have made jumps before from the new river gorge but I wouldn't consider anyone a base jumper that I'd be willing to teach/jump with. someone is pulling your chain.

there are some towers worthy of jumping, minus the tower we lost earlier this year. I'd give anything to hit that new building in omaha. s'posed to be the tallest in the tri state area. but I am way ahead of myself.

    RE: NE basejumpers

Actually, that building is very nice but is no longer jumpeable, sadly. Unless youre the owner with really good accuracy. Your correct about the two dropzones, this is where the jumpers are/were. In 3 years much can change. The ex jumpers were nrgb folks who elected not to take it further, but one was from california who had done a bit more but who again decided not to take it further. The one "real" base jumper is known as "buddha", but he was noted as being a loner/solo so my providing you with his name and number is pointless even if i were inclined to burn someones identity without their permission. There are no near local jumpers to you except south by southeast of you by easily 4 hours. Your area is rich in good objects, but please refrain from giving specific city names or object names or descriptions as the baseboard is monitored by authorities, and some of those, um, over the border raids are occasionally, it is rumored, still conducted. Good luck. cya

now if you are going to call guiness, have them send a case of their finest drought beer my way....;-)

no longer jumpable? it was jumped? bad ass if it was.
that guy was my instructor about 5 years ago. he's no longer jumping...got married, bad knees etc. Don't know how much truth there was to his base experience. can't say much.

thanks for the forum ettiquite. I've always wondered how much trouble you can get into from here. I'll keep that in mind.
