    Beginner

For the past couple of years I have been extremely interested in BASE jumping. Now that Im 16 I can finally take my first AFF class. I am just curious if there are any hints or tips that can help me towards BASE jumping and aslo: what is some good skydiving gear for a beginner. Because with owning my own stuff I will save quite a bit of cash. I am just curious as to what would be the best gear for a beginner. If there is anything else that you can think of that would help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Try dropzone.com for information on skydiving. Do lots of skydives and then start thinking about BASE. There is all the info you need on this web site for whats required before you get into BASE.

    Hi,

First get to a dropzone near to you, take an AFF course. Buy your own gear, with a 190 sqft or bigger F111 main. Make as many skydives as you can, focussing on deploying, flying and landing your canopy. You will probably meet lots of people while skydiving, you will probably run into some base jumpers. When you've accumulated about 250 jumps, you could ask to go with some base jumpers to watch them jump and help them carry their gear ect. :-)

To get to this stage you will be at least 2 jears further. And you've pobably spend about 6000 dollar on skydiving. Just send your paycheck directly to your jumping account! :-)

Tell base jumpers at your local centre about your intrest in base and let them guide you. Just be patient, start when you 'know' you're ready.

I think, that this strong desire you have to do base jumping is a puberal thing and wil go away when you age. No offence, not to say you should not attempt to get into it. Just that you have so far to go and so much to learn, it is probably best to forget about base jumping for a while and focus on skydiving. Skydiving is saver and offers you much more than base jumping. The urge to do base will come back eventualy. Thrust me!
