• Being Blind Doesn't Stop This Guy From Speedflying

When a blind, scottish, adventure enthusiast who doesn't ski named Dean Dunbar asked Ueli Kestenholz if he could take him on a tandem speedflight, Ueli thought long and hard about it. At the very least speedflying requires people to ski in a straight line at certain speeds during take-offs and landings. The ability to see and ski are both prerequisites for this, generally. But in the end, Ueli couldn't resist the challenge. He attached two pairs of bindings to his largest set of skis, strapped himself and Dean onto the them and headed into the mountains. First they trained in the tandem harness at Ueli's home in Switzerland, then they practiced skiing in Grindelwald. Finally, they went to a resort called Lauchernalp and got airborne. 300ft+ airborne. You don't need sight to experience g-forces and Dean had himself a ball. To top it all off the two celebrated the whole caper with a bottle of whisky, after they landed, naturally.Being Blind Doesn't Stop This Guy From Speedflying | RIDE THE ELEMENTS with Ueli Kestenholz, Ep. 6
