    Greatest parachuting films

I wondered what people thought were the best parachuting films or sequences in films.

Best all-round - my bet is 'the gypsy moths' by Carl Boenish.

Best BASE film - El Capitan by Boenish, or BASEclimb?

Best skydiving film - Flight of the "Dream Team"?

Best scenes - Honeymoon in Vegas?, Fandango?, or Rick Sylvester 'In her majesty's secret service'?

Best television show - what turned you on to jumping? The A-team jumping a building, MacGyver doing a cliff, the Baywatch parachute sequence, or even Larry Curly and Moe parachuting off a construction site in New York?

    What are your choices?:P

What, no one mentions the skydive feature film that got me into skydiving originally??? The best--"Point Break". Thank you very much.

Point Break ?:Compltely Agree with this choice...the purest skydive shots ever seen above a marvellous place and no f...ing drop zone atmosphere... just a bunch of friends enjoying freedom in the sky.
Crosswinds has some great shots of freeflying and BASE jumping too. :D

    RE: Greatest parachuting films

I admit I enjoyed Point Break (and Dropzone, too) but I thought they were a bit hokey.

Maybe I'm dating myself, but when those guys came out of the bar in the Gypsy Moths, start sniffing the air and looking up at the sky and saying 'Great night for a jump>" it could have been me or my friends. The concept of the barnstorming performers was from a real era in the sport (one that I regretted missing out on a bit). I have experienced some of that feeling since when doing exhibitions.

That film oozed skydiving through its pores, even if they were jumping paracommanders and B-12s.

But then again, I guess I'm older then you guys. And you probably are better at a lot of things than I am because of it. But not everything that was old was bad. Check it out sometime if you can. You may still prefer Point Break, but it's worth watching for the historical viewpoint.

I like the unedited Austrailan version of "Beyond Extreme" which is longer than the edited version sold by the Blinc store. Ripoff.

    Beyond Extreme Versions

There was only a short run of copies of the original Beyond Extreme which was hurriedly edited to be entered into the Bridge Day 2000 Film Festival - the short version WON beating the likes of 1st BASE, Fixed 2, Rage, and a number of other great entries. This was also the version reviewed in skydiving magazine -http://tomarent.tripod.com/skydiving_mag_review_rheid1.jpg

Blinc is selling the longer version now (extra scenes from KL Tower and Bridge Day 2000 + some classical aussie stuff & more jumps from the Troll, Europe, USA, etc).

Go to [http://www.blincmagazine.com/store/m...y_Code=videos] OR [http://tomarent.tripod.com/video.htm] for a copy.

Note that the first version was only about 35 minutes long and the second version is just over 45 minutes long.

If you want more info, email me at[tombegic@hotmail.com]

    Rip Off??? It has 9

0% more footage for only 40% more cost compared to other films!!!!!!!!!!!!
