want to learn base in oz

i have no jumps (1 tandem only) im buying a rig(pooster) , just woundering where i should go in the blue mountains after i do mooney mooney and 2rn any help on packing would be a great help ive whatched a cuple of vids but i cant get the hang of that center cell bit

Don't worry so much about learning Base, just find someone to take you Tandem Base, it's much less dangerous!!!!!!!!

You're well on the road to learning using our ancient accelerated self paced BASE learning techniques. Well done.

I would however strongly suggest the following alterations to your development program so that you can further (shorten) your jumping career:
- upgrade to a Mustang (next model up from the Pooster). Its probably one of the few canopies in the world where the later model has been a regression in technology. Its very responsive on front riser input (i.e guaranteed to shut down at the tweek of a riser), and handles all forms of turbulence exceedingly well (guaranteed to shut down in the slightest huff of wind). Make sure you get the smallest model possible. I believe you have a choice of whatever you are given!!!!
- wing loading is important too. I recommend at least 2.34, carry extra weights if necessary.
- start your jumping career at the Blue Mts Russian Roulette curcuit. If you can get through this on the first occasion without dying than you will futher your Sky God status.
- ensure that you consume copious amounts of intoxicating substances so that you heighten your reflexes and response times.
- jump with a minimum of four cameras on your head immediately. Ensure that one is a medium format and the other is an IMAX film camera. You never know when you might get a money shot.
- I strongly encourage a lobotomy too. It appears from your post that you possess excessive levels of intelligence. Are you still in the high 100's or have you broken the 200 barrier on your IQ test.
- crowd participation is integral to inflating your own self worth. Rent a crowd is relatively cheap (call 555 - rent a mate). Alternatively, just harass a bunch of Japanese tourists at the Three Sisters!!!!

If you're really serious about BASE in OZ:

1. Don't buy a Pooster - It'll kill you (or at least break you),
2. Learn how to Skydive first. You need to know how to fly a canopy as landing areas in OZ are extremely tight and poor terrain (especially Blue Mountains),
3. Once you have at least 200 jumps contact the Australian Base Association and talk to the locals - www.basejump.org,
4. Let me know which Dick Head is going to sell you a Pooster,
5. If I see you base jumping in the Blue Mountains (or Mooney - and I will know) without listening to my advice I'll kick your ass for burning our sites.

Pick me....Pick me! I'll be the 'Dick Head' to sell you a Pooster...only 300+ jumps and guaranteed to provide multiple tension knots at the most precarious of times...7 seconds into Bungonia...
There was discussion a long while back as to the addition of the patented 'Harvey Wall Strike' canopy to the BASE community - this could be more to your liking.
Perhaps that zipper closed container that PA was considering making for a while there - closure until YOU decide to deploy your parachute (you must be flexible enough however to do that bizarre manoevre of linking your hands from opposite directions between your shoulder blades...)

Ha Ha!

I'll see you and raise you DW. My beautiful Brown and Orange Pegasus. Its still going too - recently did a FF off North head (It was all I had packed and while you know its not a good idea you do it anyway). After surviving a number of quad gainers slider down I knew this piece of nylon was a gem. I would guess 300-400 Base since I bought it for $230 and its coming up to its 20 year birthday. Even did seven jumps off the KL tower. Quite a remarkable canopy really. Its done some rather delightful jumps in the mountains too. Its only had one broken leg. The Portland crowd will vouch for this little marvel.
