World Trade Center & Base Jumping

Could lives have been saved if someone had dropped some chutes onto the roof of the WTC before it fell?

What is the likelyhood of fatality using a chute by a total beginner from a skyrise in a city like NYC?

Do you think it is a crazy idea that chutes be used for tall building like life vests for boats are?

What special design considerations would you consider for a chute used in emergency by unexperienced people from skyrises?
Turbulence is one factor. Perhaps automatic deployment is another.

What special considerations would be necessary for the shape of the chute?

I'm looking for ideas from people to find ways to create a chute specifically for inexperienced civilians who are trapped in tall buildings similar to the World Trade Center disaster.

    I would appreciate any comments.

You must remember that BASE jumping under any circumstance is against the law.
so says your government . If you buy a rig you will be considered an outlaw. Are you prepared for this lable. ;-)
