You should read up on your egyptian history - those symbols are hieroglyphics, what you have written there is similar to the ancient egyptian god of death Anubis. Ignore it. Where you see that its usually because the post has been copied from another forum or bulletin board and the text surrounded by the strange symbols used to be a hyperlink to another article.

In the recent BLiNC conversion, the OLD wiki links where linked like:
[code][[term]][/code]

or:
[code][term]Name[/term][/code]

So, when the wiki code was changed to:
[code]Term[/code]

Those terms where lost.
I have tried to find and change them as I can. If you find them, I would appreciate a note so i can update these.
