    RE: height evaluation

    Hello!
As you can see I'm still alive(have not jumped yet).
I see that my inital post was a bit too unspecific and maybe left the impression that someone will get hurt(killed) due to lack of experience.
I still am unexpirienced but I NEVER thought of taking the slider up!!
I too feel that starting with a static line is the way to go.

now to some questions asked about the site:

I dropped several rocks at several times and they all took 6.0 to 6.2 sec. to impact. I just posted 5 sec. to be on the safe side. The rock can be seen from 'exit' till impact(I always verify that there is noone below).

The bust factor is very, very low, when jumping sunrise or sunset(wind is little to none in the morning).

When looking straight down from exit one can see rocks on the talus. Moving the line of sight towards the horizont(up) a forrest appears. Still going for the horizont, the next thing that one will see is the landing area(parking lot). The forrest is intercepted by a treefree stripe, that leads to the landing area. So its possible to fly all the way to the desired landing area above landable ground after having cleard the rocky area directly below.
(I hope that you now can imagine how it looks like.)
The "nasty" part is compared to the parking lot.

I have spent several hours(which will sum up to some days) inspecting the whole scenery discribed above and will continue to do so.

I am not going to jump until I know the exact height(gps and laser).

I just wanted to know if its worth the time for some very thorough inspection. I think it is.

    mk

    RE: height evaluation

    > Why do you remove the lens? I usually leave mine in place...
Yes, Tom , you are right, I should keep it in place, but without the lens it gives me a bigger feeling of freedom :7 . With my full face helmet (even if without the lens), I have a good feeling of protection, also compared with my jumping mates, who jump either with an open helmet or without helmet at all...
You are absolutely right. In any case, I have always in my gear bag a pair of goggles, just in case I would feel the need of protecting my eyes...
