    Making Tailgates.

Use 900# Dacron; or doesn't it really matter?

    Re: Making Tailgates.

The rubber band prolly wont be as secure on smaller stuff (like 600-800) but it will still work. I have used 600lb with small band cut in half, then lark's headed to one side of the tailgate and then double wrapped over both sides, slider up and down with no issues. Even triple wrapped a large band and it worked ok-but don't recommend that... The band will be especially loose if you use smaller stuff and just burn the ends as opposed to finger trapping the ends into themselves. Finger trapping increases the odds of the tailgate staying with the line as well, in my experience. Biggest thing is that the tail gate is relatively stiff. I don't think I would be comfortable using something like 550 paracord for example as the lark's headed rubber band could possibly capsize into a square knot with the 550 cord and be slow to release, in theory...
