I just booked a room at the Shilo Inn.
They offer BASE jumpers the rate of:
$69.95 plus 8% hotel tax. Nice place,
    indoor pool, free breakfast, etc.

Here is a list of hotels in the area:
    Twin Falls Hotels

Of course there is always: Google

    $69!
THAT IS 2 WKS of 'living' (groceries, bills, etc. the basics-hell i dont even have internet, cable or a house phone-downsize to jump!)

seriously-what do you think of places to pitch tents in Idaho?

I've never been there (and never o the USA while in this 'state' of a wheelchair etc.) except with the National Team's which provided accomodations....

so I really do not know their laws regarding what is a squatter-i know here in Canada if you toss up a tent on the side of the road (well into the bush a bit ofcourse), you got 2 wks to get it out before you are starting some legal problems-but you can go live on a heat vent on the side walk of any big city for years without a 'problem'-except the system calling you a problem-'the homeless'.

i AM GOING to twin falls in May-infact the reason i am asking is because i know this will be one of my last yrs jumping, and i want to stay as long as i can-before the state popo's catch me-i really DONT want to end up in jail in the USA, they wil send me to that famous Cuban 'Bay' where you get to stay for free for years, n years, n ...

what are the chances of 'living' in my tent close enough to the bridge to jump for a few weeks?

Minna, first things first click this link:

    Hmm, Google

Second, wow I knew weed was cheap in Canada
but I did not know the cost of living there was so
low that $69 could keep you rolling for 2 weeks,
even if you live rent free in a hangar

As for camping, I have seen a guy pitch a small,
green, one person tent in the LZ mostly hidden
from view by a bush but it was only for 2 days.

In all seriousness though, your lodging is less of
a feat than the logistics of getting you over the
rail and back to the top repeatedly.

2 strong people and that "BUTI" board are likely
all that is needed for the former. Using Don's
boat service for the latter is expensive but
    probably the smartest choice.

Please re-fresh my memory... Did you contact
Abbie to get Russel's email address so you
could get some inside handi-intel ??

"I will be there in June to follow a First hump course."

.........wow, so who exactly is teaching this first hump course? Depending if it's a hot chick, I may sign up myself. However, setting up a tent for a first hump course like the other poster is suggesting, doesn't seem right. I would not recommend it.

So; you're saying you wouldn't pitch a tent for your first hump?

I'm thinking that might make things more difficult...I know I always try to pitch a tent for all of the humping I do.

Re: Accomodation information Twin Falls, ID

Tom, I sent him off an email-just today (oops)..

Like I said, i got his address i just didnt talk to him since before he was getting married two summers ago-seems that time flies when your busy flying.

trying to learn some FF skills last fall and this winter (my jumping ends up free because i work my ass off here at the DZ doing all the shitty jobs no one wants to do-like sorting through recycling bins someone every month manages to puke into -HOW/WHY when the ground is beside it and the garbage would be a better option-NO i got to wash that shit off before it goes to the side of the road-and literally i sort booze bottles/cans to make money... yah call me pathetic or just plain insane but i got priorities-money or not im jumping! NOW that i got two B.A.S.E. canopies and complete gear collected-a new BJ at that -im happy-my spending now goes on travelling to the next object-paying my dues, patron in hand

this winter i basically forgot about the internet and email for up to a month or so at a times just to be able to go through the FAA riggers course material and work on my gear modifications-im making a gimp freefly suit out of an old school camera suit. stitching by hand since one of the divers here burned his trailer down and he had my machine)

-more gimp gear coming for this season.

This season I'm focussing mostly on B.A.S.E. -life is short, got to push every second out of it that's possible.
This illness is starting to remind me it's here.
Which is good, it reminds me to keep living the dream.

Well actually i dont any more live free in the hangar-got a real house with a real ramp now about 400 yards from the hangar-damn that's sweet because to hear that door opening is like the alarm at the work yard to tell yah its time to go to work.
well i do start around 5 AM in the summers to clean up the place so i can make sure we got the place looking decent by opening time.

well cost of living in Canada isnt that cheap for most-but i make it that way-i have to-or else i will live like any other unemployed person-without anything including dreams.

I wont eat it if i dont grow it,, catch it, snare it it (snared 17 bugs bunnies this winter) or just go without. (well I will if someone offers, but what i mean is that the only things i really spend money on is staples like sugar, flour, salt etc. and beer!)

so after paying rent my 'living' expenses (or shall I say budget?) is less then $300/month total out of which ihave to pay my bills-thats why I got no home phone or a TV to watch.. who needs that crap anyways.

I'm also downloading my other sports equiptment that i do not use anymore-carbon fibre olympic sprint kayaking paddles, all my climbing gear, rowing machine etc. etc.
so i can have some cash to try to make it through the summer to get my B.A.S.E. # some how-some where its going to happen (for me and Pauli's memory).

so yah I live pretty 'cheap' around here-I leave the DZ about 2 times a month-to pick up some "green'S"

Getting me in a tent is about the only way i can afford to live outside of my own house.

well 2 days for a walking person in cognito in the bush is one thing but for a gimp wheeling around its another issue all together...

    hhmm..
if they got Russell over the bridge I think i wont be that much more difficult ?

i allready started my patron budget-im assuming its cheaper in US then buying it here and bringing it down.

actually for me right now the cost of getting there and how that will hapen is still the biggest burdle.
but what ever it takes i will do it.

its terribly expensive to take the train or buses here, soi been thinking i need to find oneof those last minute flight deals-show up at a US airport and try to get on stand by list to the closest airport to the falls and go from there to see what i can do next,'oki go check out the link

yes i want to pay for the boat-safety! I WILL use my cut away handle when needed but it will still be cheaper then loosing a canopy, and i got NO PLANS of going in the drink and sinking in there either.

Once I'm there I got to talk to the locals about the landing options once i try the river a few times... and got to pay for packing it takes me way too long to pack to be able to jump often even with two canopies. (got a BJ260 and a Raven 219).

I DO HAVE A DISABILITY TRAVEL CARD. WHICH MEANS A FREE FLIGHT FOR MY COMPANION-YOU KNOW SOMEONE TO PUSH ME AROUND SINCE GIMPS ARE SO USELESS
so i can share airfare, bus or train fare once across the border-or even on this side-but god its expensive here to travel.

its getting close and i need to get something going here. ASAP.
i think i may just dig into that credit card i paid off by working here and get a motel room for a night or two at first till i check out the scene and see if i can find a spot to lay my head down thats cheaper.

maybe see you in your hotel ....
