Packing Question: 5th command line on FLIK

I just got a new Rig with a FLIK inside (I always packed and jumped with FOX).

I did already a few jumps with the new rig. One question always comes by packing: what to do with that longer 5th command line when you flake the tail?

I simply put it now with the other D Lines, so I can pull them tight with the D Lines.

    Are there other "techniques"??

    thanks

Although I have not packed a FLik, with the 5th I do, as you have stated, just make sure there is tension in the lines and flake the tail accordingly, it throws up a look that you wont be used to on a 4 line, but "it aint no thang" - well to me anyway..............

maybe others do have other methods.....................

Re: Packing Question: 5th command line on FLIK

i flik it up like the rest of the tail as i pull up my Dlines i do a chek on the 5th lines aswell but dont put them together whith Dlines.

The longer lines has worryed me about line over and damegede to the gear, but sofar i didnt see either of thouse.

I made 5th line mod on my fox but got line burns,so i took them off again. As this point i only has aprox 30 jumps on my Flik, and dont got any burns yet.

NOTE: the 5th line on my fox were as long as the other brake lines,so i packed that as usaly(4brakelines).BR later told me(it were DW telling how to put it on)that the 5th line should be longer than the rest..

As we speak i like my Flik as it is if it gets no damegede or mals. it flyes great, but as my Fox,it will only fly whith 4 brake lines.

I know alot of aussies removed their 5th line on their Flik.

The length of the 5th line varies depending on where you have attached it. I think it's longer on the Flik, and on the original Blackjacks, but I also think on the new Blackjacks it is the same length as the others.

On canopies with a longer line, I usually just make sure it's in the middle. If you're really nervous, I guess you could try taping it into the center with masking tape.

HI, sorry for the slow response on this.

The packing technique with the 5th is to pull the tail up until the line is taut, which will give you an angled section in your tail flake, which is what has already been said here.

    Peace,
    Karen
