I'm getting to Stavanger the morning of the 9th. Do you take the bus to Lauvvik then ferry to Lysebotn? What to bring for food? I heard they take Visa in Lysebotn. Is this true? Will it be possible to jump the first day?

Take the bus from downtown Stavanger to Lauvvik or if you want of pick the ferry up in Stavanger itself. It is the same ferry. The only difference is the time of the ferry at each stop so coordinate that with your flight. In terms of food bring a bag or large box of it. Sure they take visa at the campground, but it can be costly and not always on your food schedule. So bring food like pasta, pasta sauces in plastic cans or ready made bags as the glass jars are heavy and breakable. Oatmeal is the best breakfast that keeps you going the longest, but do not forget the brown suger. We also brought Myoplex meals to fuel us up and help us get the right protein and nutrients. Also bring pre-made dinners in packages and a stash of cliff/power bars to get you though each one of the hikes. Average two powerbars a day. Peanut butter and jelly works well along with cans of tuna fish and salmon. I think they have fresh bread you can buy, but bring some cheese and lots of fruit and some vegitables that you buy in Stavanger. There is a grocery store right above the bus station in the same building in Stavanger. I think you get the idea. Also here is the info we used from last years trip.
