    MESH SLIDERS

WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIRST MOJO, IT CAME WITH A SMALL HOLE MESH SLIDER. BUT WHEN I BOUGHT MY SECOND MOJO, THE SLIDER WAS MADE OF THE LARGE HOLE MESH. MY QUESTION IS,DO I NEED TO REPLACE THE SMALL HOLE MESH SLIDER WITH A LARGE HOLE MESH SLIDER. IS THE SMALL HOLE (OLD TECHNOLOGY)? WILL I BE ABLE TO TELL A DIFFERENCE IN OPENING SPEED AND WILL IT OPEN MORE CONSISTENTLY ON HEADING WITH THE LARGER HOLE MESH? ANY VIEWS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

    Also wondering

I jump BR gear but was wondering the same. Lot of people jumping fine mesh in Norway last year but I have large hole mesh. What is the performance difference? Thanks

    RE: MESH SLIDERS

    Cheerful Greetings:

Did you try calling Adam at CR directly?

I've had very good experiences with their customer service, and Adam has tons of knowledge. I'm sure he can give you all the info you need (and hook you up with a new slider if you need it).

Contact him at (916) 652-8111, or through his web page www.crmojo.com. I'm not sure what the email is, but you can get it off the web page.

    Have Fun!

    RE: MESH SLIDERS

Regarding the mesh used in the Mojo sliders.
In 1995 we switched to large hole mesh.

The rational behind the small hole mesh was less snag potential with a line attachment knot etc. However, to get the opening speeds we wanted, it required a fairly large surface area. This worked fine, but in some cases this surface area created extra drag and slowed the slider's decent. The slider would occasionally come to rest just above the risers.

We switched to large hole mesh so we could retain the same opening characteristics with a smaller slider surface area.

If you like the openings with the small mesh there is no need to change.

    Hope that helps.

    RE: MESH SLIDERS

i've been jumping my P-pro/M220 with an oversize mesh slider (thanx, Bill Lee) for about a year. the stock smallbore-mesh slider that came with the canopy is 17.5"X23.5". my oversize started out around 20"X26" made from largebore-mesh, and i think it's stretched a little with use. if you want more exact dimensions, e-mail me and i'll check after my next jump. larger mesh sliders and/or large-bore mesh tend to increase the opening speed.

i experience faster openings and better heading performance with my oversize. i've jumped it from down around 460ft/140m a couple of times and have dozens of jumps on it from below 600ft/180m. it seems to slow the openings just a bit from slider-down and keeps all of the lines where they're supposed to be. any diversion from heading during opening has been entirely a matter of body position. that being said, it is a moving part in the pack job and i hope that i'm quick enough with the hook-knife if it ever betrays me.

Adam mentioned that he'd had quality-control and supply problems with the large mesh in years past and was slightly concerned about snag potential. i'm sure that, if he's shipping it as stock components, the worst of the kinks have been ironed out.

i'm probably a little older than most of the posters on this board and a confessed opening-shock weenie. with my openings slightly slowed, i make more jumps than i would slider-down. as much as i like this custom slider, i wouldn't take it much past 4.5sec with a rolled nose and 38"pc. beyond that, i'm back to the stock smallbore mesh and watching my trim very carefully at opening.

    blueskies!

    RE: MESH SLIDERS

p.s.: when i say "large" with respect to mesh, i mean something around 5mmX10mm square holes as opposed to the approx. 3mm diameter circular ones in the stock mesh slider i got from CR.
