I have noticed some differences in behaviour of 4 and 6 spoke ZP pilot chutes...the 4 spoke seems to skate around whereas the 6 stays rock steady...is this just coincidence or is there actually a recognised convention here.
cheers
Sean
Yo, a 6 spoke is/could be kinda cool. The spokes are hangin at 60° apart. so it will play the ventilator with the warp and weft of the mesh, Like the right side will be more on the bias than the left side which will in turn allow for more elongation of the mesh and the uppityness of the skirt of fabric. creating a spinner pc, spinners are better than orbiters, The old Para-Innovators 52" (2kg) pc was very stable (16 gore) as it was a 3d design and all present designs are only 2d. I think that an 8spoke would be better because of the angularity of the spokes vs warp and weft of the mesh. I would imagine that one could build 2 diff pilotchutes with only the tapes 45° differing and have a resulting 40% (32 vs 38?)drag difference. The bottomline is if you have a series of off heading openings favoring one side, IT IS YOUR PC that is causing it. Some jumpers will refuse to listen to me on this but it will become a well known fact for the rest of us later as it is for me now.I donīt think ZP is the prob. proper angularity orientation of the mesh/tapes/fabric is the deal for the present 2d pc designs for stability. till later,

now you come to mention it...i was using a four spoke 46zp for sub 350' and had a few off headings all going the same way,ive gone over to the 6 spoke 42 and had no problems, someone else tried my 46 and had the same sketch..the 42 has kicked arse..although my experience is low i cant argue with the topcam video of my jumps which seem to prove the theory..will CR and BR make eight spokers if asked?
nice one
