    Don't forget Dennis!!!

Folks, I have to tell you I'm real disappointed. I checked with Dennis and Brenda the other day and while they are deeply appreciative of the help that has been sent their way since my "I sent $20 to Dennis" message two weeks ago, a hard fact remains:

Of the 200-and-some "views" of that message, only about _ten people_ actually sent any money to Dennis and Brenda to help them get back on their feet after the three months he spent in prison FOR US...

You know, if everybody who flamed me for trashing the NPS, and lecturing me on how it should be done right, would put their money where their big mouths are and send him $20, he'd be out of the woods... but no, all you anonymous web weasels are real free with your two cents' worth but apparently that is _all_ you're worth.

And for the rest of you who aren't anonymous web weasels but _still_ haven't sent any money to Dennis or Fred... remember to look in that mirror so you can see what an Ungrateful Assshole looks like.

Or at least a forgetful one... :-)

So send your $20 or whatever today to Dennis because I can tell you one thing: He would definitely do it for YOU.

    Love,

    Robin

    RE: Don't forget Dennis!!!

    Way to go Robin!!!!!!!
Call us ungrateful assholes and watch the money roll in. I'm sure Dennis and Brenda really love their financial predicament posted all over the internet. (Sorry Dennis and Brenda)

Yep, that's what it takes to get my money,,,call me an ungrateful asshole and I'll give you my life savings. You prick!

As far as The McGlynns,,, I'm sure a huge influx of rig orders would make them happier than handouts.
I know the both of them very well and that's not the type people they are. I'll be ordering "ANOTHER" vision from them in the next 5 or 6 days, so I'll be sending them $450 or $500 instead of $20. Ya hooo Robin you are the big spender.

Personally I've given hundreds of dollars to Fred over the last few years so again... Kiss my ass you short little prick.

    Thank you for your contribution

    Dear anonymous sir:

Thank you very much for your support of Dennis and Fred. You mis-name yourself because you are obviously not one of the people to whom I was referring: You are a web weasel becayuse you attack anonymously, but you are absolutely not an ungrateful assshole because you have contributed hundreds of dollars to the cause and I for one deeply appreciate your support.

And in ordering _another_ rig from Dennis, you put even more money in his pocket, which he sorely needs.

My sending $20 was meant to serve as an example and a minimum, you might say, an amount that _everyone_ can afford.

Please remember, anonymous sir, many of us do _not_ have the financial resources you do, that allow you to buy multiple BASE rigs and send hundreds of dollars to Fred.

Would that we all could; this problem would have been solved long ago.

In the meantime, it would probably be more productive if you would re-direct your personal anger for me toward encouraging the ungrateful among us to pony up at least the $20 I sent, and hopefully, the hundreds you have sent. Because the fact remains: Dennis and Brenda put a _lot_ on the line for all of us and almost none of us have done even a little for them, and those who haven't damn well need to be reminded.

You are one of the ones who doesn't need to be reminded, so I thank you again on behalf of Dennis and Brenda and all of us for your generosity and commitment to this cause.

    :-)

    Love,

    Robin

    RE: Don't forget Dennis!!!

I find it hard to believe that Dennis of all people needs my money. After all isn't Dennis's theory behind all his base build up is support me? I'd like to see Dennis supporting the base community instead of tearing it down with childish rumors.

Face it we all understand the risks and possible penalties we face on each base jump. If this is the new edicate for base jumping I'll post my "DONATION PLEE" so the next time I have to serve time the base community can help me out. DEAL WITH IT DENNIS.

    You're UA1 alright...

At last someone calls himself by his right name.

The reason for helping Dennis is because he, unlike so many others over the years (including myself), did not plea bargain his charges.

Unlike those of us who take the easy way out, Dennis McGlynn stood in the line of fire to make BASE jumping better for all of us. In so doing, he earned the ire of the system he challenged and they busted his chops for it.

Kirk Smith & Co. are still in the line of fire, if I recall correctly, and have all paid a higher price for challenging the system.

Will Oxx & Co. stood in the line of fire too, and they have paid a high price, even though they were found not guilty. Fortunately, they had a better judge than Dennis did, a judge who used hios power to set them free -- not a judge who not only jailed Dennis but stomped him while he did it.

Dennis served his _entire_ sentence. Nobody does that any more unless it's life and even then it's iffy. Everybody gets good time -- except that heinous criminal Dennis McGlynn, BASE jumper.

He served his full sentence, and did not even receive the customary courtesy of being released early for the holidays, as most others with only a few days left to serve on their sentences usually are.

Now the feds are doing their usual post-sentence hassle dance, limiting Dennis movements and ability to make money for the enxt 60 days.

Dennis could have taken a plea bargain years ago and been done with this. That's what we've all done for 20 years. Until now.

And if you read my original post on this subject, I said if enough people focus on Dennis and what he did with their contriibutions, there will be enough money to pay Fred's bills too and generate some momentum for our alleged movement here.

Your post references a personal problem you apparently have with Dennis, but this is a public discussion about what Dennis did for all of us, not a private conversation about what Dennis allegedly did to you.

It is also _not_ Dennis' post. I write these on my own and without consultation, permission or sanction by him.

The obvious reason that you find it hard to believe that Dennis of all people needs your money is because you are confused and uninformed.

If you were better informed, you would know that Dennis would have to spread an awful lot of childish rumors before he could tear down the BASE community one-tenth as much as he has helped it to grow.

You talk to Dennis las if he wrote the post, and your statement regarding Mr. McGlynn's "theory" is grammatically incoherent, which, I have a sneaking suspicion, is not a typo.

Same with that"new edicate" for base jumping, you know, the one that calls for a "donation plee."

(Almost pleed my pants reading it.)

I guess you meant "etiquette," and yes, actually, it should become a new etiquette... thank you for mentioning it.

Absolutely, when someone goes to jail for _standing up_ to the NPS and federal government, then absolutely we should have a support network to help them out financially and emotionally. DUring the protests at abortion clinics and during the Vietnam War, the people who went to jail knew they could rely on a network of people to take care of their needs (and those of their familites) while they were incarcerated.

We've had the beginnings of this with Dennis' situation. More than 500 letters were mailed to him. He had more personal visits than almost all of the other inmates combined.

These things meant a lot to Dennis and Brenda, and these things are the beginnings of a more organized effort next time one of us goes to jail -- not for getting caught running away -- but for standing up and challenging this wrong.

And the next part of righting this wrong is a little post-jail support, that's all, to help a soldier returned from the war to blend a little more gently back into the world.

This is the part everybody forgets about when anybody gets out of jail. It's still not over. Even short jail sentences turn lives upside down.

As a community, we're not doing this part as well as we did the "in-jail" part, but I'm hopeful we can surpass it if we just focus a little bit.

So, please, send him $20 and uh, whould you like a little cheese whith your whine?.

    Love,

    Robin

    RE: You're UA1 alright...

As in every community, there are those who are givers and those who only take. I have always said that BASE jumpers and skydivers are my best and worst friends. Robin, thanks for your efforts on the McGlynn's behalf, but as you know, you cannot reason with an illogical person. There are always going to be those selfish and weak people who feed on the system and offer nothing in return. Understanding this, I can only assume that someone who resents what Dennis has done and then resents our efforts to help him must have some deep rooted personality dysfunction so I am going to add his twenty(and more) to my contribution.

    RE: Don't forget Dennis!!!

You my feathered friend don't know what the hell you are talking about.

Dennis has done more for BASE jumping in the last 5 years than you could ever imagine. and lets not forget the help from his friends...

    Avery Badenhop
    Harry Parker
    Tom Sanders

Just to name a few. Sorry if I offended anyone by leaving out an important name.

I didn't have a bitch about sending Dennis and Brenda money, my complaint was in the way that Robin so eloquently described us BASE jumpers.
    As a whole that is.
I am a firm believer that we should stick together and back up our BASE brothers and sisters. But I know, that as a BASE jumper....
Not one of us wants a handout. I'll be happy to lend them some $ and maybe work out a deal for some gear in return.
So you my friend, are way out of line by telling Dennis to deal with it.

    Thank you for your time.

How much to get rid of Robin

Hey Robin, How much would it cost me to permanently keep your too long, self agrandizing, insane ranting posts off the board. I didn't realize that you had appointed yourself the grand poo-bah of fund raising for Dennis. I, like UA1 will be ordering a rig from GS soon, and like UA1, I'm sure he would rather sell gear than take handouts.

Helping Dennis is NOT a "handout"

To the two whining web weasels wailing about whether we want to give Dennis handouts, listen up:

Sending Dennis is not a handout; it's _payment_ for services rendered -- just like when you send him money to build him gear.

By standing up to the federal government for ALL OF US, he _earned_ every dollar anybody sends him to help Brenda and he recover from that experience.

To whine and whimper and weasel like you do about handouts versus earned money simply means you are utterly clueless about the political and legal processes involved in this issue and the true magnitude of Dennis contributions.

Not mention the need you both have for remedial reading comprehension courses... but that's obviously not something I can write to you about because you wouldn't get it anyway.

But thanks aain for sending Dennis gear orders and by your example encouraging others to do the same... you may be whining web weasels, but you do put your money where your mouths are and that counts a lot in my book.

    Love,

    Robin
