Captured and encoded - Cutting Edge:Seconds from Impact

I've encoded last nights programme about British BASE jumpers into Windows Media format v7. It's about 130 MB. Mick do you have this sort of space on your server for downloading? I doubt many people would have the inclination to download this size file. If you are in the UK and would like a copy for the cost of a CD-R and postage drop me an email. If people outside the UK want a copy, I'd be prepared to send it to one person in each country who can do the same for others in that country.

I've got enough bandwidth to download it. So if you can find a webserver with enough space to hold it... I'll be happy :-)

I have space, but 99% of user don't have the bandwidth.
If you have access to a Real Media converter, that would lower it to around 3 to 10 MB range. This is the best way!

    RE: Public Domain?

Fair enough. I don't know the Director so I've passed on an email to space (base283@yahoo.com right?). Is the director closely involved in the BASE community then?

    Hi,
There is free webspace at these locations. www.freediskspace.com www.juston.com www.visto.com and there's heaps more, you could break the file down into smaller pieces, using various splitter programs (try www.tucows.com), upload to free webspace providers and post the USER/PASS here for us bandwidth chewin freaks to download.

    Just an idea.

Hi Guys and Gals...sorry to rain on the parade but Channel 4 have expressed concerns(as did the jumpers) and have asked me to let you know the whole CD thing cant go ahead.

There are copies of the video available from the production company whos full address I will post tomorrow. All the cameramen and women out there will know why this has to happen.Copyright law can get very messy and expensive and TV companies have big budgets.

Thanks for all your effort Craig and it will be recognised...feel free to e mail me if anyone has any comments.

RE: Captured and encoded - Cutting Edge:Seconds from Impact

Am I the only one amused by the irony of BASE jumpers, who routinely risk death and prosecution, fearing a copyright law?

    I'm not a BASE jumper :-)

and it's the BASE jumpers who are protecting their copyright (as well as the production company)

    "Risk death & prosecution"

    1) The risk of death (your words not mine) is tolerated to achieve an enormous rush, buzz, feeling of calm, or whatever each jumpers reasons are. It is a factor in what we do but by no means a reason as to why we jump.

    2) The risk of prosecution, see above.

    "Fearing a copyright law"

    1) We are law abiding citizens although occasionally we have to walk the wrong side of the law in order to access high objects or to actually jump if you live in the "Land of the Free" ;-)

    2) We are not general law breakers with no respect for all law and order (we're very selective as to what we agree with)

    3) The adrenalin buzz we achieve from copyright theft just is too damned hard to handle so we tend to leave that to the real nutcases out there.

Yee Haw I'm off to photocopy an article from todays Newspaper, don't stop I'm gunna do it, I'm way gone.
