    IPBC Re-writes history, imagines reality

Here we go again....A few really tasty excerpts from the IPBC "press release".

"BASE jumping is the sport of jumping from fixed objects using a parachute and is one of the newest and hottest extreme sports to hit the X scene in the last eight years"

NEW? New TO WHO? LAST EIGHT YEARS? I GUESS BASE DIDN'T EXIST BEFORE THESE GUYS JUMPED OFF SOMTHING

"Competitors use skill and guts to outwit and out match each other as they earn points for producing flawless openings of their parachutes"
I GUESS WHUFFOS CAN BE MADE TO BELIEVE THAT OFF HEADING OPENINGS ARE NOT AT LEAST SOMEWHAT RANDOM EVENTS. PUT THOSE GUTS TO WORK, IT WILL OPEN STRAIGHT!

"and then try to hit a 10cm target. Competitors have gotten so good at this that winning comes down to centimeters." 100's OF CENTIMETERS

"The IPBC just finished organizing jumpers in two different events in Asia". NICE PLAY ON WORDS, BUT WE ALL KNOW WHO REALLY "ORAGNIZED" THESE EVENTS

"An IPBC organizer choreographed 15 jumpers for a simultaneous jump during the New Year's celebration from the Petronas towers" TECHNICALLY ACCURATE, BUT AN AMAZING GRAB AT SOMEONE ELSE'S GLORY

"Thailand has also shown interest and the IPBC expects to organize jumpers from one of the many tall buildings in Bangkok by years end." I WONDER WHO IS PUTTING THIS TOGETHER? BE CAREFUL WHO YOU INVITE, THEY WILL SAY THEY ORGANISED IT.

"A few sponsorship opportunities remain to those interested" SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE US MORE MONEY TO PLAY AND HAVE FUN, THIS STUFF CAN GET EXPENSIVE.

How good life must be in that reality!

RE: IPBC Re-writes history, imagines reality

Not again is right about Asia, and it's even worse than he points out.

    For the record:

The IPBC ORGANIZED NOTHING in Asia.

The Petronas Towers skydiving demonstration jump was organized by SkyVenture Productions, a Malaysian-American company composed of Dann Lee, Jasmina Jacinta Lee, and Robin Heid.

Two IPBC individuals participated AS individuals in the Petronas event. They did not participate in organizing the event; one of them did choreograph the dive according to parameters provided to him by the organizers, and everything he did was ordered and approved and SUPERVISED by them.

The KL Tower event was similarly created and organized more than a year ahead (August 1999) of time by Martin Dumas, Aziz Ahmad and Alicia Boey.

One of the "IPBC organizers" came on the scene in October 2000, and had no appreciable role until mid-November 2000. The other "organizer" got involved in mid-January _2001_.

The IPBC "organizing" of KL Tower consisted principally of extorting $60 USD from each participating jumper, and providing five days notice that all photo and video recording rights to the event were controlled by them.

THe IPBC's fraudulent claims of credit for "organizing" either one of these Aisan events is either a knowing, deliberate lie -- or a vivid collective hallucination by the three individuals who call themselves the IPBC.

Moreover, these individuals spit in the face of the people who did the real work, and reveal themselves for who and what they really are.

The individuals who call themselves the IPBC have contributed some good things to the growth of BASE jumping and those accomplishments cannot be denied.

Unfortunately, the IPBC's degeneration into a now-destructive force cannot be denied any more, either.

    and the real height is......

Last time I checked, if the IPBC were organizing anything in Idaho from 400 feet, they would be speaking of the Hansen Bridge. Last time I jumped the Perrine, the sign still said 486 feet. I guess that would put New river to 800' also, with the round off. What else, well, 90 is within a few percent (4.5%) of it, so with a round off error of 21.5% on the perrine, this would put Moab at 310 feet, and New river at 700 feet. Simple math.
So, now that IPBC tells me the height of objects, they can charge me to jump off them also? What's perrine cost at the Snake river BASE games? $5 a jump, maybe IPBC organizes the boat rides, cause us NON-IPBC BASE jumpers don't know how to call the boat guy. Not to ruffle feathers with this post, but it seems feathers are being ruffled with all this glory mongering of "organinzing" something.
Check it out, I organize myself to go jump off chit, legal or not. So, can I charge myself for organizational skills?
    Peace out,
    Thomas
ps- Don't take life to seriously, for everyone loses it sooner or later. Just enjoy!!
