    Boot Camp

    Typical Rumor-Control

Ain't no Army boot camp at Lejeune... that's MARINE territory, bucko, and Marine boot camp is 12 weeks long, not some nambypamby Army 8!

I'd also like to know from the all-knowing D-dog why he didn't rape Avery and Dennis over the coals for demanding, at the last minute no less, that everyone send in their SSN or they not only couldn't jump, they wouldn't get a refund.

Why is that, D-dog? Why are you baggin on Hied and the others when even if they do hafta give an SSN, at least the jumpers know that up front.

Answer D-dog, or shut the F up.

    Because. . .

. . . my anonymous friend, the last-minute scramble in 2001 for SSNs was just that, at last-minute scramble. That close after the 11th tragedy, all the cards were up in the air and nobody knew what was going to happen at BD or frankly in the country at large.

Now, we're a year out and I know for a fact that at least two other prospective BD organizing groups refused to have SSN turnover as part of their proposals. One group was willing to roll on the issue this year (and thus likely set a permanent precedent, unlike the clearly ad-hoc and temporary situation that prevailed in 2001 before the outright cancellation), and they got the job.

Your writing style sounds familiar. . . funny how many nastygrams have been posted on this thread -all from unregistered, anonymous aliases. Makes one wonder. . .

    Whatever, man.

    Whatever is right

    Let me get this straight:

You said as Americans, we have an obligation to stand up for our rights when they are threatened. Rolling over and pissing ourselves doesn't fit well with our proud tradition of courage and determination, does it? No.

But now you say it was okay for Avery and Dennis to roll over and piss themselves and us and not stand up for our rights because they were scrambling.

We got a name in the Corps fer people like you. Guess what it is?

Looks like a Louisiana address, either an employee or student at Southern University System in Baton Rouge.

I wonder if the school would finger the IP address for me if I forwarded this message to the local police? I probably should, just for entertainment.

Man, I love it when people threaten me. It makes me smile!

    RE: RH strikes again

I am a sometime skydiver but I am making my living as a psychologist. I have been studying your chats for some time. Here is my assessment:
Perhaps, the most widely recognized and most validated personality disorders is antisocial personality disorder. It has received more attention and has been studied more than any other personality disorder. This disorder is characterized by a pattern of disregarding and violating others' rights and safety. Common symptoms of antisocial personality disorder are:

    Defiant
People with antisocial personality disorder do not feel it necessary to live by the norms and laws for behavior dictated by society. They regularly perform illegal acts that are grounds for arrest.
    Lack of remorse and empathy
Individuals with this disorder have no feelings of remorse for those whom they hurt. In fact, they may blame the victim for making them act in the harmful manner. They may rationalize why they have hurt people.
    Self-absorbed
People with antisocial personality disorder are only concerned with their own needs and wants and do not care who they must hurt to achieving their goals. Because people with this disorder are so egocentric and lack empathy, they typically have few friends.
    Irresponsible
They have difficulty in fulfilling responsibilities and commitments such as jobs or financial obligations.
    Deceitful
People with this disorder display a pattern of constant lying, use of aliases, and conning people for personal profit or pleasure.
    Irritable and aggressive
Individuals with antisocial personality disorder are frequently involved in physical fights or assaults. They have little concern for the safety of themselves or others.
Mental health professionals, such as I, who work with this population claim these people have an emptiness and sadness at the heart of their personality. They often begin experimenting with drugs, alcohol, and sex at a very early age. People with this disorder are at risk for substance abuse, alcoholism, vagrancy, suicide, incarceration, criminal activity, and dying a violent death. Those with antisocial personality disorder who are able to avoid incarceration are typically exploitative, irresponsible, and deceptive. As spouses, they tend to be abusive, unfaithful, dishonest, and manipulative. Antisocial personality disorder symptoms tend to decrease as the person enters his/her thirties.I wish I knew the ages of some of you who post most frequently.

    Prevalence
About 3% of men and 1% of women in the population have this disorder. There are estimates as high as 70 - 80% of the prison population has antisocial personality disorder.
Three contributors to your hostile/aggressive chat board standout: Sky puppy, D-Dog and a Robin Heid. I sometimes think that the latter two are one in the same person. I suspect that they often hide behind various diffeerent screen names.
All of them are in dire need of theraputic assistance.

    Precious!

Thanks for your post - it was a great way to start the day, though it almost did cause me to snort my coffee out of my nose while I was laughing. I hate when that happens!

Hey, does the DSM still list homosexuality as a pathology? Oh, I guess they don't anymore because a few courageous souls pointed out that being different isn't a "pathology."

Let's all repeat that: being different isn't a pathology.

"Antisocial personality disorder. . . " what a crock. Sounds to me like the definition should simply be "doesn't fit in well with modern, whitebread, hypocritical, social norms." Throw in some downright nasty things like spousal abuse just to make sure the demonizing is complete, and voila - you've defined anyone who isn't a fat-ass American as "pathological.

Lemme give you some academic advice, bud: take a few classes in anthropology and sociology. Psychology is a dead discipline if there ever was one; it has no predictive validity and since Freud it hasn't done much in the way of therapeutic outcomes, either. Humans are social creatures - psychology has at its core the fatuous assumption that individuals exist outside cultural forces.

Start with Weber and Levi-Strauss. If you don't get too confused there, move on to Durkheim and Mary Douglas. Throw in a little Bourdieu for a modern take, and Foucault's Survieillur et Punir. Once you've done this, write me back and we'll talk. Next we'll do some ethnography (Geertz, Evans-Pritchard, Malinowski, etc.) to open your little mind to the fact that the majority of the Earth's human population does not live in the U.S. of A. - are they all "pathological," too?

I'm sorry, but your cute academic titles don't make up for your clear lack of wisdom. Burn your DSM and learn a little about the human animal.

    Pathological and proud,

    D-d0g
