God of the skies? It sounds like a tar and feathering is in order....so just like Icarus he can fly of course.

My math says tht from 30,000' that a skilled birdman pilot would easily make it the 22 miles. (30,000' = 6 miles x 4:1 glide ratio = 24 miles) Wow Felix, thats really pushing the envelope. You are the "god of the skies".

What a total retard! Amazing how huge just a little bit of hype can make something look.
The best part about all that is that he is truely seroious about it! He really does want to be know as the "God of the skies" I've had the opportunity to do a trip with the guy. What a friggen asswipe he was! He's got the biggest inferiority complex of anyone I've ever met. I honestly couldn't believe the crap spewing from his mouth. Get this one, and I quote: "When I die, I have written in my will that my sponsor make a museum of all the amazing feats that I have accomplished." or how about this one "Adam Fillipino is an asshole." or "You guys shouldn't take your shirts off. The cameras are out and we should make this trip look like we are on a serous expedition. Not one where we are relaxing in the sun." (We got heli lifed to the top of all our jumps.) Oh wait, how about "You shouldn't play 3 flys up in the snow for the cameras. That makes us look like we are having fun and not roughing it in the frozen arctic."
What a sad existence he has. All for the glory and publicity wether its true or not. He knows that most base jumpers hate him too. The sad thing is he thinks they are jealous of him! How funny is that! To be pitied and continually laughed at and to confuse it as jealousy is a truely sad thing.

It reports he will have oxygen, is that assistance?
Is a carbon wing thingy assistance?

sure the Petronas is 1483', but you can't exit from there.

his head may not pop but my ribs are breaking with the strain of laughing my ass off at this thread...I have been up north to the frozen wastes and spoken with the Inuit who were there for the Red Bull Baffin trip...glad to hear cliff tell the truth cos all the guys in Clyde River didnt hold back.....hehehe...maybe the French air traffic guys will do us all a favour and go on strike again....lets hope he doesnt have to ditch in the channel either because thats the busiest shipping lane in the world...spaaaloooosh!

i'm pretty sure that judy leden crossed the channel using a hanglider about 15 years ago.

Does that count as unassisted?

That carbon fibre thing on his back looks mighty like a mini hangglider to me.
