    Greenie in danger

So it would seem that someone has bolted an appendage to Greenie. A "diamond plate" piece of steel several feet wide and deep. Not only is it structurally questionable from a jumper's standpoint, it represents a major violation of this object. When (not if) the bridge engineers find this they will go bezerk.
Drilling holes and bolting things onto thier structure is exactly the kind of thing that will precipitate razor wire etc.

Everybody knows that bridge gets jumped and the authorities have something of hands-off approach to enforcement.
However, jumpers modifying the thing is good cause for a swift response. Tampering with a state bridge is very different from jumping it. Especially post 9/11.

This isn't about who should jump, what time of day they should jump, should they go from the road or not. That stuff is trivial in comparison to the magnitude of what we are talking about here.

Messing with the object is not about getting busted or being seen, it's about losing access. period!

    What were you thinking!!?

You can contact me directly if you wish, or remain annonomous.

In the interest of preserving access to that site for all--your diving board must go.

    Twin Falls is no different

yeah, diving boards bring attention to exit points.
I have a bit(h to make. who's the people leaving "the plank" up OVERNIGHT, SEVERAL NIGHTS at twin falls. go ahead and flame me for my 10 min pack jobs, and one or two jumps with added attention factors introduced, but I don't hear anyone saying shi8t to them jumpers leaving planks up overnight.
SO I WILL: I MAY HAVE LESS JUMPS THAN YOU, OR NOT RUN A FIRST JUMP COURSE, but I have the common sense to remove my objects from the bridge at night. That is the only reason I was going to use my ""board"" as a wind drift one day. to get it down, and off the bridge. Maybe I was going to have BERT help me take it out???
DONT LOCK THE PLANK TO THE BRIDGE!!!!
this is one of the few things the sheriff's at TWIN FALLS have ask us, and SOME people can't follow it. and ya wonder why the public thinks of us as rule breakers. reminds me about the flatbed 8 at el cap, or something. simply to lazy to remove the board is no excuse. put it up, and take it down, both, every day.
that's all they ask. and make sure to always call the sheriff, before and after jumping.
I may jump like a JACKA33 sometimes (in your narrow mind), but at least I do it respectfully.

Whoever did this, please remove it immediately! Or even better yet, next time someone is there, look and see what is needed to remove it and then do it next time your there.

Use some common sense and leave no trace people!

    Tokemon,

You point about not leaving the plank out overnight is a very good, excellent point. Everyone should police after themselves everyday and then some.

Removing the plank at the end of the day should also include taking it off the bridge and into your car...or in a hiding place that is completely out of sight. If you leave it on top, there's a good chance that someone (locals or kids) will throw it off the bridge. I've seen more than one splintered board in and around the landing area.

And Tokemon, I respectfully ask that you please do not chunk boards from the bridge, even if you pick up every single splinter and 15 bags of trash once you land. There's a pretty decent chance that someone will see it and it is absolutely the wrong thing to do, ethically and morally.

well said. I didn't throw it for that reason, and plan never to. I agree that what the public sees is not always the whole story, but:
it is what the public sees. I will always remove whatever I put somewhere, when or before I am done.
    Peace out,
    Thomas

    RE: Greenie in danger

    Hi Adam,
How possible is it that you are jumping to conclusions that it was a BASEr? In other words, why would jumpers haul a hunk of metal/Drill/nuts/bolts/tools and security stuff (ropes for a tie in)there and leave the platform up knowing that they will face felony prosecution if caught?
The right and responsible thing to do IMHO opinion is bring this to the authorities NOW as itīs quite possible that the structural integrity of the beam in question has been violated putting the public at risk. The investigators should be able to find where the steel came from and the nuts and bolts plus possibly a mulititude of fingerprints drawing a vector directly to the the perp If there was a perp and this was not authorized. I think and hope that is was not a BASEr.
Please everyone with an opinion, express it, flames included.. But donīt assume it was a BASEr. Endangering the public with stupidity lurks lowest no matter what venue!
    Take care,

    old folks knowledge

what do us bunch of old folks know anyway?
---well, you know how to beat some a33?? find the BASEr, talk to him, and if situation doesn't improve, deal with it more aggresively. take it down, maybe report it, whatever you feel right.
maybe get Mr. Marty of CR to come threaten the jumper/s involved. maybe he can scare them.
talk about a prick. go ahead a33hole, threaten me. preach to me. I still am laughing at you.
"I wouldn't jump it that way."..boo hoo. go home then, or pay more money to have a perfect rig.
    just don't talk to me.
    Later,
    Thomas

keep in mind, I offered to boil tar for myself if I did anything that might put Perrine in jeopardy. after being threatened/promised. OK a33holes, who's gonna go pour it on Brian's body???

    RE: Greenie in danger

We know that endangering others thru stupidity is wrong. I absolutely understand Darwinīs concept in the aspect that we are all to be replaced by someone better if we did not have civilization which protects and allows the stupid and weak to reproduce more stupid/weak offspring. But on the other hand besides having other fingers, We as a unified group should protect our interests and not allow/accept persons not following our protocol the chance to fark our chance to maintain the dream of legality . Or not. Oh, I guess we need a unified group thatīs internationally respected, Is there any interest in this? It all comes down to freedom fighting or rebelliousness...Europe will leave you guys behind....But get your chit together and you guys can be a partner to access more sites legally..
That is just a thought... feel free to ignore your effect on the future. I came from the rebel clan, so I know the stakes. think about it, let me know. take care,

you can't tell me what to do!! I for one am gonna start stringing little wires across the Perrine sidewalk to trip unsuspecting locals because I am so bandit and illegality is the only way I get off on this sport.
after that, I am gonna knock over the Borders next door and make my getaway via the bridge to a waiting zodiac down below.

    later you wussies!

    Wrong Tar-get

Forget Brian. The tar should be poured on the 1000-jump moron and his equally idiotic pals who let a guy with 12 base jumps go on an 8-way from 486 feet with them, and the base wizards who trained him and never said anything to him about his 6-foot bridle.

Yo, are YOU checking the bridle length of everyone you jump with?
