    Whuffo strikes again...

Ground Whuffo: What for you jump out of them perfectly good airplanes? You could get hurt doing that!

Skydiving Whuffo: What for you jump off them cliffs? You could get hurt doing that!

BASE Whuffo: What for you pull so low or do them flippy doos? You could get hurt doing that!

And the answer to all questions is:
    Risk versus Reward baby!!!!
It's a personal decision, there are no right or wrong answers.

On a side note: What the f*ck Tom? Do I need to run a course in the art of low pulling? You suck!!!
The correct (Australian) method is: What until you are really scared, then count to three, then dump. It's not count to four!!!! When ARE you going to learn? ;-)

To concerned, "who should take advice from such a reckless individual".
Should we only take advice from people who´ve never had any problems in BASE to help us deal with any problem we may have?

    Dear Dwain,
Please do us all a favor and get over yourself. And maybe get a speach therapist too.
    Thanks

Would that not be "speech therapist" as opposed to speach therapist? President George W. Bush has a speach therapist to help him deliver speaches. I don´t really think that DW was delivering a speach.
Just a critique for the crittersizer ;-)

Is this what you told 12-jump Brian's mom after he bounced doing a SIX-WAY with you and the other self-important gods?

No, I believe the first thing that Dwain and Nik and Their buddy Anne asked Brian's mom for was the Video that she shot so that they could "study" it so this "terrible tragedy can be prevented in the future":9

    ?

So far below contempt as to be not worth responding to. If you want to pick a fight with one of the "self-important gods" who were on that load, I strongly encourage you to pick one with me. I'll be happy to teach you a little respect, one broken bone at a time.

And, for the record, all of us did in fact speak with Brian's mother after the incident. Something you, I am sure, would be far too much of a chickenshit to do in our shoes.

    So much anger.....

My post was meant to be funny (as in "ha-ha"), not serious. Mellow out a little. This sport is supposed to be about having fun. I've never understood why there are so many bitter and angry people in this sport. Does anybody have any theories why this is the case?

I didn't realize that there were self-important gods on the load. Could you name them for me? You seem rather informed...

Actually it was an 8-way. Everybody pitched at the planned height. It would have gone perfectly if it wasn't for the pc malfunction (and I believe the 8-way had nothing to do with causing that to occur). Brian was most likely dead when he finished packing and made the decision to jump with that rig.

And yes I do believe that the decision to make a BASE jump should be based on a personal decision in regards to the risk they are taking and the reward they are seeking.
When you decide to leave an exit point you assume 100% responsibility for whatsoever happens to you. Often in the aftermath of a tragic accident this is forgotten.
Jumpers and non-jumpers will often try to assign blame to various parties connected to the deceased, such as; people that jumped with the deceased, the people who trained the deceased, the manufacturers of the deceased equipment and the authorities who didn't prevent the jump from occurring.
But no, it doesn't make it easier or any less tragic for the parents or loved ones of those that die or are seriously injured. In that regard BASE jumping (and other high risk activities) is an incredibly selfish pursuit.

    lower still

Wrong again, idiot. Brian's mother did not video the jump.

Are you such a dick that you have to use a tragedy like this for your petty little Napolean games? You know what your punishment is: every morning, you get up and have to look yourself in the mirror.

That's the most fitting punishment I can imagine.

    Piss off,

Doing what Tom does may get you hurt, but that doesn't mean listening to what he SAYS is a bad idea too.

As the old saying goes, good judgment comes from experience and experiece comes from bad judgment.

So while you might not want to take Tom's advice about when to pull, he's proven time and again on this board have a lot of valuable experience and insight to offer on just about every other subject.

    Heal fast, Tom.

Can't speak for others, but I was and am bitter and angry BEFORE I started jumping. It has been the jumping that has kept the bitterness and anger to almost a socially acceptable level. Perhaps thats why many bitter/angry people turn to jumping -- its the one thing that makes sense on this sucking sore of a planet.
