I guess the V-tec, Tail Gate, Tail Pocket and all the other great developments can't save a no pull.

RE: What happened to Basic Research

Vented Technology: first used by accuracy jumpers many, many years ago. First tested by Adam Filippino of CR in the BASE world. Later marketed by Basic Research.

Tailgate: Definitely developed by BR with the aid of several other individuals.

Tail Pocket: Conceived by Bill Jones in Florida many, many years ago -- not BR.

    Just setting the record straight!

    Time has no Ownership

One doesn't look at a car and look at the hub cap and say that was created by so and so and the exhaust system was created by what's his/her nose. All that one cares about is that the car they are buying has a hub cap and an exhaust system. The time for ownership of ideas is falling into the century past as we move forward in time, utilizing the great innovations of the past without having to constantly recognize each particpant in the development. Many people probably contributed to the development of each of those things and I am certain that any innovator including Adam would aggree that he had many people to thank in his gear development just like BR would thank many people too, and then there are all those who have perished trying new technologies as well. So if you are going to set the record straight maybe do a good job besides your self serving narrow minded effort to only recognize three contributions to BASE activity. When you get off an airliner and thank the pilot do you take the time to mention the creator of the hemroid cream that kept him comfortable the whole flight. Probably not, as an outsider you probably wouldn't think anything about hemmroid cream but as a pilot you are just happy to know that he can apply the soothing cream in such a way that makes him feel more at ease about his sore and itchy ass.:*And you probably don't even care that it is the co-pilot's job to screw in the applicator.

I don't think BR has made a claim in this posting that they are the inventors of all apsects of BASE gear, they are just using the innovation that they have heard of or developed in a way that they find useful to their organization.:*

Of course not. Everybody knows that guy in Paraguay invented all aspects of BASE gear...

    RE: Time has no Ownership

Actually Davinci and Veranzio came up with it first, but since they were deathly afraid of someone stealing their ideas they kept them under wraps. This guy from Paraguay, understanding Spanish (or Italian?), must have found some of their papers and started using their stuff, becoming the first to regularly jump early BASE gear.

This culminated in his starting up the first BASE equipment dealership - le storeo de las jumpingo offa des bridgeos anda des cliffos in guadalahara in 1868.

    RE: Time has no Ownership

You're right, of course. If you take a look at da Vinci's original sketch (attached below) *, you can see a tailgate, extensive use of bottom-skin venting, a tail pocket, and even an apex-vented pilot chute.

    * Sketch may have been altered from its original form. Who can say, really?
