    Ethics

What do you do when you find out that someone that you thought you cared about has lied about doing a jump? The person in question told me & other people around me that they jumped from a "B"
After a month or so of racking my brain with doubt I checked with the person that was said to be there & was told that this person never did jump this "B" with that person.

When Confronted with this new found truth the person in question came up with a better, almost impossible to confirm lie.

Now I myself don't have too may jumps (just 22) But I did earn my B.A.S.E. on my 9th jump.

Every jump I have done I either have picture & video or I can take you to a person who was there (I don't have enough experience to even think about doing a jump alone)

This person has even less experience than I (5 confirmable jumps.)

Has any one else ever come across some one "padding" their log book?

    thanks

    A very saddened Buddman

An Italian took a Skydiver with zero BASE-Jumps, padded his BASE Logbook with 10 false jumps, took him to Norway, and then watched him go in with a total in front of a Ferry packed with spectators.

    Pretty sick!

    Padding

I remember when I learned the easter bunny was a farse. Santa Clause was toppled shortly thereafter. But I still kept getting chocolate on easter, and presents on Christmas.

A BASE # and jump total is not a measure of a fixed object jumpers ability and should not be used as such.

If you find yourself in a position such that you are using a persons jump totals as the sole or primary factor in deciding to jump a particular object with this person.

Then maybe you need more jumps...

quick racking your brain over someone elses log book. Just log them in your head as a bullshitter. Spend the extra time scouting some local sites you've never jumped or disecting your own past jumps (with your video) with the intent of learning from them.

By the way, I once nailed a model who was once on the cover of a popular magazine.

I'd guess that roughly one quarter of my jumps were done alone. So, I have some jumps that are "unverifiable" by anyone else.

But, since I made the jumps for me, not for anyone else, who cares if other people can "verify" them?

Why would it matter at all to other people whether or not I have jumped something, or done something on one of my jumps?

The only time I heard of this being a real issue was with the Norwegian BASE Association, but I think they dropped their requirement for video of your jumps (a good thing for me, since in my part of the world big wall jumps are usually made at night).

    RE: Ethics

Thanks guys for your responses. Those who know me well can guess who i'm talking about. It's not about B.A.S.E. jumping there is alot more to it than that. It's just that this incident distroyed my ability to trust this person.

    I am moving on.

I will be in twin falls on march 5 ...... alone..... It is an object that I am comfortable with but in my current mental state I need some friends to hang with

    thanks again

Guys, I think some of you are overlooking Bud's point. This person is a friend whom Bud cares about, and obviously the person cares more about appearances of coolness than about being straight with people (true coolness).
    Be cool,

I too have nailed models who appeared in National magazines and newspapers in the UK and I have evidence. They don't call me Skinflicka for nothing....
