    Chain of events

For the last 2 months I've been jumping this tower 15 mins from my house, and since there are no base jumpers here they have all been solos. I know opinions very about solos but as Tom A. stated " I am called to do solos". Last night I really had an awsome expireince. I left work around 10:30 or so and decided to make a jump on the way home. As I was pulling up to the tower my stomach was not feeling to hot (link # 1), but I've jumped in worse condition than that plenty of times. I pull up to it and realize the lights in the house across the street are on and I see movment in the house( link # 2). After sneeking up to it in the shadows My stomach hurt so bad I thought I'd be sick, but I just waited alittle bit for it to pass. I had gotten about 100' up and checked the wind direction. It was going to a side that I haden't jumped from yet, but I knew the landing area had lots of obstructions in it as well as telephone wires( it still would have been totally ok to sink it in)link # 3. I thought about it for a minute and realizes all of the links I have mentioned were forming a chain of events, although none of them were that severe by them selves; put them together and I had the beginnings of an accident. Plus I had no ground crew(link#4) and I didn't tell anyone what I was doing. After thinking al of this through I decided to climb down. I have never in my life felt that good about a judgement call like that one. I felt as good(almost) as if I would have safly jumped. My whole life I've heard Dennis MC. talking about "the chain of events " and now I had expirienced it and made a good call! Thanx to Dennis and everyone who taught me that it's ok to walk down, even if it's just a bad feeling. c-ya, Jeff

    Yo Jeffy Jeff,

Nice call. I was recently mulling over how easy it is to just jump. It is way harder to take a decision to not jump, way harder. You can always choose to jump again if right now isn't the best time for yourself, and that makes jumping the next time even better.

Glad to hear your out there hitting it. See you around.
