    Fourth Bridge BASE Jump Scotland.

Coverage in the national and regional press stating:

    Taking it from the top
Austrian and Swiss base-jumpers Felix Baumgartner and Ueli Gegenshatz leap from the top of one of the 156m high pillars
of the Forth Road Bridge in Scotland. The pair defied the authorities to successfully complete their first ever dual jump in the United Kingdom.

    Not impressed!

Amazing what people do for the chance to get famous, & that is famous among whuffos! Because I think that notorious is a better word among basejumpers.

    RE: Not impressed!

Glad im not the only person on this wagon,to all the jumpers out there, please consult the locals on sites in the uk,after all if we go to Austria or Switzerland and just start jumping people seem to take a dim view!!

There are a number of "prestige sites" such as this that have been jumped for a long time without alerting the authorities but there seems to be a convention that if you are not a British National the authorities will not bust you, therefore stunts like this are great fun and no big problem.

Milennium Wheel was a prime example...who was the goon that burned it for everyone by calling in one of the biggest national daily newspapers so he could swell his head by some more centimetres??

BASE is just about tolerated over here whilst it is still in a stage of relative infancy,it will however take time for it to leave the darkness...as a result of some hard work behind the scenes by British jumpers, who at present keep the publicity to a minimum. Not by "in your face,ha ha ha look at me" pirates who choose to spoil it for everyone.

Anyway...thats me done, pissed off just about covers it,anyone fancy a trip to Switzerland or Austria to make some dumps...I mean jumps.

I'm sorry. They did this jump in the middle of the day?

With that much traffic on the bridge?

    Who are these idiots?

And, does anyone know if this was a sponsorship type jump, and if so, who the sponsor was that they were getting the footage for. I'm guessing Red Bull had something to do with it--anybody know for sure?

Perhaps BASE jumpers ought to start boycotting Red Bull...

    Warm Tar and.....

Now don't start with that "How do you know what it tastes like?" garbage.... but Red-Bull(SH*T) tastes like horse pooey.

If you two freaks keep doing this crap and the rest of us will have to find another planet to jump... People (the general public that is) aren't ready for our sport as it is, and a couple of clowns like yourselves come along and wreck all the hard work people like Dennis McGlynn, Avery, Jan and a whole list of others are actually doing. Most of this work is being done in the shadows, away from any spotlight, not for fame, not for sponsorship, not for anything other than love of flight. Take a lesson from the past, from the fathers and mothers of our SPORT. Learn from them quietly, for they have taught, and will teach us much.

cluck, cluck, cluck... I'm having chicken tonight....

RE: Fourth Bridge BASE Jump Scotland.

idiots? how DARE you call the world champion of basejumping an idiot?

well, one of the two, mr. felix baumgartner recently in a special report on BASE (aired on german TV a couple of weeks ago) claimed to be the "world champion" of base-jumping.

    ?

additionally, he claimed to have done the lowest BASE-jump ever - the first jump ever from the jesus in rio.

    ???

someone got any idea where that world championship was? i had not heard about it yet. oh, and after what i saw in that special report i assume stable exits and freefall were NOT included in the scoring of the event.
