    Amazing Pro-BASE article

The October 25, 2002 edition of the New York Times carries one of the most positive articles about BASE jumping ever published. It was written by Neela Banerjee and is the feature article in Section D, the “Escapes” section. Three photographs are also included. The author writes about Bridge Day and then branches out to describe other more general aspects of the sport. Perhaps the most amazing part of the coverage is a box called “Before Your Leap” which describes “Where, When and How to BASE jump…” Inside the box is information on first jump courses, contact info with phone numbers for gear manufacturers, and even a reference to BLINCMAGAZINE as “the information center for many jumpers.” BASE jumping will never be a mainstream activity, but getting good press in our country is a refreshing change.

In case you mistakenly picked up MAXIM instead of The New York Times this morning, you can also access the article online at http://www.nytimes.com/2002/10/25/tr...ASE.html?8hpib

The site will require you to register, but it is free and requires no personal information that you can’t fake. However, the site does use DoubleClick, so you may wish to set up a temporary Hotmail account first.

    RE: Amazing Pro-BASE article

Somebody posted the entire text of the article over at the Bridge Day Forum, so you can avoid the hassles with the NY Times website.

Speaking of, how did this thread not get moved to the Bridge Day forum yet?:P

    RE: Amazing Pro-BASE article

I saw this article a few days ago. Quite excellent. Anyone who wants to use the web access, there is a bogus account with the username "dropzone2" and password "dropzone" for easy access. And, we all love easy access...
