skydiving my new base canopy to test skills

Can you all give me somme info on how or if it is possible to base my new flik v-tec out the plaine in a skydive rig just like in base freepacked sl off 3sec , 4-9 sec mesh sl upp , + 10 sec sail ... ?

And how long of a delay from plain is max ok with freepacked flik v-tec in skydive rig with :
    large mesh sl ?
    sail slider ?

I realy want to test every phase like in base ( to compare opening speeds , ... )!

    Thanks guys ,
    Frank

    DANGER!

NEVER take a slider off/down canopy out of an airplane. The relative wind at exit already exceeds "safe" opening speed for a slider down canopy.

You can take mesh sliders to terminal, but the openings are rather hard. If you are just skydiving the BASE canopy to play with canopy control, you are best off to use a sail slider and a deployment bag (i.e. just deploy as if it were normal skydiving gear).

The opening you get from a plane will be harder than a BASE opening until your vertical speed (from falling) exceeds the horizontal exit speed (from the plane's flight).

    Yo Tom ,

thanks Tom , NO slider of then !

So a freepacked mesh sl should be fine for how many sec delay ?
Or should i take the freepacked sail anyway ? and what delay is ok with freepacked sail setup ?

Ps if i understand it correct , then al base setups can be used jumping my baserigs out a chopper , since the chopper has no forward speed ?

    Thanks man ,

    >freepacked mesh...Or should i take the freepacked sail anyway ?

Since you are having trouble with hard openings, I'd start with the sail slider, and take short delays, then get longer and longer until you are at full terminal. After that, repeat the process with small mesh, and see how long a delay you can tolerate. After that, you could try it with large mesh.

    >and what delay is ok with freepacked sail setup ?

I have taken freepacked mesh (and sail) to terminal. Any delay should be ok from an aircraft. Even pitching at one second will only yield a long snivel and possible slider hangup (fixed by pumping toggles or risers).

    >Ps if i understand it correct , then all base setups can be used jumping my baserigs out a chopper , since the chopper has no forward speed ?

Yes. Helicopter or balloon should be fine with no slider rigs (or any other kind of rig, provided you have sufficient altitude.

    Thanks Amigo(s)

    PC Sizes

On a skydive, the PC is generally sized by the container manufacturer, to match the container system. I'd just go with their standard PC. If you do use BASE PC's, I wouldn't use anything larger than a 38.
