An Australian clinches overall base title.

KUALA LUMPUR Jan 5 - Australian jumper Chris McDougall clinched the overall title in the Malaysia International Championship of Xtreme Skydive/World B.A.S.E Cup 2003 and also helped his country win the team event with partner Tony Coombes here Monday.

McDougall also topped the Aerial Aerobatic category while compatriot James Freeman placed second overall with an added top spot in the Accuracy Landing category.

Brazil's Luiz Sabia emerged third overall.

In the Canopy Opening category, Croat Nenad Pesut placed first while American Raymond Losli took second and Australian Mark Clinton Spicer third.

The third edition of the championship, at the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower, started on Dec 28, last year.

The event, promoted under the slogan "Go KL Jump For Peace" in efforts to promote world peace, saw the participation of 54 jumpers, including three women, from 13 countries including Brazil, Germany, Hungary, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Six rounds were held from the 73rd floor of Petronas Tower 2 and four rounds were off the KL Tower.

The closing and prize giving ceremony was performed by Sports and Youth Ministry Deputy Secretary-General Nik Mahmud Nik Yusof.
