Women and BASE Jumping

Do many women particpate in BASE Jumping?

It has been argued that Skydiving is a very masculine sport that not many women particpate in while it appears that many women choose to particpate in BASE Jumping. Why is that?

Any women or men who would like to add their thoughts on women and BASE Jumping are welcome to voice their opinions!

i think there are a proportionate number of women skydivers to base jumpers, mabey 5-10 % rough guess. skill-wise i think they're closing fast, learning from the guy's mistakes. as far as why- suicide without the committment - letting it all go and then getting it all back within seconds. some do it to view themselves in the sport and some do it to view the sport in themselves. I would say women participate in skydiving around 40% compared to the Male 60%, whereas BASE is much more skewed toward the male end of the scale.
